I don't think that the lockdown had much effect, but the government had to do something even if it was ineffective. Similarly the vaccine might be useless, but I doubt that it will do much harm.

The most interesting bit is that half the country has been put on the dole but they don't seem that much poorer and the country seems to be able to afford it. There are useful lessons to be learned from this and probably won't be.
