I don't see how no wages is an improvement on NMW wages but I guess it's a socialist thing ...

I don't know about Wales by the jobs provided to locals by tourism is frankly propaganda where I live in Cornwall
Most of those employed in the tourism industry due to the low wages, seasonal work are either foreign or from outside of the county. Most of the profit goes back out of the county as well.

That is a disgusting personal attack with no foundation at all.
I and others are campaigning to get tourist numbers limited to what the infrastructure can handle.
The last two years of mass invasions of frankly very badly behaved tourists has damaged the SSSIs that will take years to recover from.
It has taken local volunteers a long to the clear the mountains of broken glass, rubbish and human excrement left behind by tourists.  (The MP appears to have gone into hiding about the problems and the buck passing by county highways, the police, and others in an official capacity is totally unacceptable.)

Have you considered learning Welsh

Gwynedd County Council have decided they hate tourism and wish to eradicate it to reduce the reliance of the locals C
on the NMW wages it brings....

Easily, the need is more than the income.

No , as the recent report showed , 270 charities pay their managers and bosses more than the £150000 salary the PM gets to run the country
That's how they are in debt

I was under the impression many of the charges were waived when charities took over empty shops because the local authorities don't like to see closed premises — but I guess the last couple of years has cut most of their income. And, as you point out, there are ongoing efforts and not just handing out the occasional blanket, coat or food parcel...

That used to be true, but quite a lot of the staff in the charity shops are now on wages so the landlords take the view that if the staff can be paid so can rent and rates.

The problem for the charities is that they are one business that can't go on line. Or at least, not easily. Do you need a pair of extra wide fitting shoes, one size 12 and the other 13? Well yes I do, but there aren't many like me   :)

The more well known charities have shops on every high street that have been shut for over a year ,head offices in the City ,permanent staff and ex staffs pensions to pay . As the CEO of a national charity you would be expecting north of £100K pa + bonus + pension
And that's before your charitable obligations and on going commitments

Its quite easy to see how they can run into financial  difficulties

Exactly pappy. Too many professional scroungers leaching off the honest, hardworking folk who do the actual work.

Nice to see you back
I just laughed, the other place must have run out of patience or customers.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

I don't like the flood of lies and personal insults being aimed at me.
There is NO need at all for you to do it, then follow with more.
Good to see you back — but you do appear to have fused with an exceptionally irascible Bill Oddie...

Bloody hell, you are in a mood. It is lucky that Boris' campaign to free the West Country of the Chinese flu has been so successful and that you are now allowed out and able to chase the tourists (and anyone else who wants bring money to the area) away.

I have to say Pappy, I like the idea of you shovelling shit for the good of Cornwall. Do you want me to text Derek Thomas and suggest he provides you with a pair of gloves?

Don't be so tetchy. If you want to spend your declining years rattling a tin at Lizard Point and leaching off the tourists then go for it. Let us face it. You have to look after yourself because it is a sure as God made little green apples that those lefties you adore won't   :)

Apart from a handful and are nothing but a business and as SW describes....the whole charity system has long needed an overhaul.

I'm loathe to give to them because having done so found myself hounded to give more,if a charity does that to me they get bugger all again

I am with you there Ollie. I give to the British Legion as much because the fierce old ladies waving the collection tins scare the crap out of me as anything else. And I drop the beggars outside Sainsbury's a few bob on the promise that they send the money on drink and drugs but otherwise my money stays in my pocket where it belongs.
