I can't say that I ever got overly excited over my job. The pay was washers but it paid the bills and no one died of overwork. And most of us had a few sidelines that paid little but were fun, so that was not so bad.

One odd thing was that every few months we had a performance review and most folk would go in and have hour long interviews with their managers and try to prove that they were working like dogs and deserved a pay rise. I would look at the performance review agreement and ask if it was going to lose me money or get me sacked and my boss, who was a nice lass, would smile and say no. So I would sign it and then she would tell me that these interviews were supposed to take forever, so she would be obliged if if for the look of the thing I would disappear for a bit. So I did.

No one ever got a pay rise, but at least I got some time off.
