For some of those bereaved by the pandemic, it begged a question: could my loved one still be alive if the government had done things differently?

The answer is probably yes, but who really knew at the time. Mistakes were probably also made later in the year but, again, who knew at the time.
With so many saying the restrictions were/are too severe, and govt's team of medicos and scientist urging more care, a choice had/has to be made.
The huge vaccine backing, purchases, and roll-out is paying off, and the UK's Covid death rate is currently not that out of step with its near neighbours where the populations have similar profiles. So let's hope this time lessons have been learned and govts will be more ready in future...
