Not really, the EU has never been one to protect fisheries or have much time for eco systems, they have proved that time and time again. For them it is standard practice and being furious over having no say in the matter won't change it, bypassing them altogether is a much better way though, it outflanks them and leaves them all powerless.

I reckon that Boris is looking to pick a fight with the EU (particularly the French), to divert attention from backing down over the lifting of the 21 June lockdown.

Nothing wrong with that. No UK politician ever lost votes by telling the French to f**k off. But it is a pity the fuss is about Ulster. It reminds me of the time a neighbouring allotment holder left a pile of horse manure on the path. If I am going to have a row I would rather it was over something other than a pile of shit.
