This guy has just testified in court today. They appear to have found who did it.

It will be great if the murderer is brought to justice. Daphne Caruana was a blogger who exposed live, as it was happening the dealings going on with Panamanian bank accounts, which were being credited $5,000 a day from who know where. The person arrested, Yorgen Fenech, has been grassing up government ministers.

When I was last in Malta, 1992 and 1994 the place was riddled with openly sold counterfeit goods. Loads of VHS "original" videos of films, clothing with "Nike" and other names all over them, the police just allowed it all to go on. Almost every street stall in the market looked bent. This was in the St Paul's bay area, and the hippy markets were even worse. I hated that smell of corruption.

Many years ago I met an ex-pat there and he told me "The Fenechs own Malta". It's well known that family are the richest in Malta. They could have caught Mr Big.

I've not seen any counterfeit good in Malta though. The new line of business is "I-gaming", which is internet gambling. Gambling is traditionally a Mafia occupation and American laws restrict internet gambling in the country, hence they have to find other places to operate it from. The government has been very supportive if I-gaming in recent years.

So it might, but this is about Malta, not Britain.

I am merely pointing out Malta is not unique.

That would describe car boot sales in Britain.

My woman says the investigations have led to the owners of Portomaso. It's a luxury marina and a shop/hotel/flats and restaurants complex which was built quite a few years back from nothing, and obviously involved a lot of money. My brother and I at one time moored a boat there and had dealing with these people. I've gotta say the whole place gave me the creeps. I don't know if you ever get that Mafia feeling anywhere, but these people were just like that. The place was kept spotless and very strictly run. It used to have this huge diamond shop. I mean it was like the kind of gaff you would frequent if you were part of the Mafia. Weird stuff indeed. CCTV everywhere.

The bomb itself was apparently detonated from a small motorboat which they have CCTV footage of near to the Grand Harbour which is a couple of harbours along from Portomaso. There's also a warehouse they think they have found where the plot was planned from.

It's interesting because the authorities seems to have been greatly helped by mobile phone data records. They found the exact call and where it was made from. This could well be their mistake, but chances are these who did it were hired.

Sure is. Even the EU commission have taken action which they don't do for many protests.

Says my woman. They are having a revolution and Daphne is their heroine. You see my woman has a flat in the town where she was from, and it's kind of kicking off outside of her window. The PM has said he will resign or has resigned. I'm not sure of the particulars here, but the gist is they are accused of very serious corruption, it is likely to be Maffia-linked and it is certainly on an international scale.

The authorities have homed in and this is no longer a rumour, but more like a case for prosecution. With corruption it can go on forever, like one known corrupt person does transactions with someone else and they find some more corruption, and political names are popping up. it's game over for the government.
