Poland and Hungary are problematic in the EU. I doubt it will collapse this week, but I will turn my head to the south in case I hear anything from across the channel.

As you say, I doubt that anything Poland and Hungary do will cause a break up of the EU, particularly when both countries have their hands so deeply into Brussels pocket. But I can't see how the political union will be advanced. Every time East Europe throws a strop the EU convenes a meeting of member states and agrees to write a stern letter. And that is about it.
