Oh, I never noticed probably why I mentioned it.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

I feel like Terry Jones trying to talk to Eric Idle in the Nudge Nudge Wink Wink sketch!
You do understand that the vast majority of Chinese Companies are just Commercial Companies that do things on the basis normal commercial decision making? Or do you genuinely believe that every decision made in China is made Xi Jingping in person?
Or maybe when you say populist you really mean white supremacist and the thought of the world not being run by white people anymore is just sending you mental?

I think a number of Chinese playboy's are under his cish just as much as their russian counterparts are under Putin's but then I've seen what happens when their iPhones sniff our wireless network....
<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

Aye I agree but nationalisation is heresy, even to labour.

The railways should be,they know it but won't do it it's like some religious commandment "thou shalt not nationalise"
Something Thomas said, if the Chinese stopped exporting, they could bring the west down in double quick time, or words to that effect, anyway why would anyone in their right mind make the situation even worse?

I would rather the UK government nationalise them. Just a way out idea I'll throw in.

Now,now calm down Tiger, the Chinese have been caught admitting they are having no part of democracy, politics is all run via Beijing, I know that because if they had their way, I would be treated no differently from those in Hong Kong.

What do mean by "Caught Admitting"?? The Chinese practice Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and have always made it clear that they have no interest in Western Liberal Democracy.
Treated no differently from whom in Hong Kong? The one hundred arrested for fomenting violent riot and vandalism, or the other eight million that continue to go about their normal business and live their everyday lives?
What has any of this got to do with some Chinese Companies buying up some bankrupt businesses in the UK?

Err - I wasn't aware that I was supposed to be confirming or denying anything. An article says that some Chinese companies (not named) have bought some failed businesses from the Administrators or Liquidators, well either the article is true or it isn't
I will ask again, which country from the list if usual Investors, would you have preferred and why do you think that they either did not bid or were not prepared to bid as high as the Chinese firms?

eerrm ok ???

So a bunch of failing companies are saved along with the associated jobs by overseas investors, who are still prepared to take a punt on the UK economy. Yet somehow this is all wrong? you have preferred the firms to have all gone to the wall?
Maybe their is a wailing and a tearing of hair by some usual suspects with links to the Eastern Med Seaboard, who may have been planning to let them all go to the wall and pick up the assets for next to nothing and who feel that something that should have been theirs by right has been taken by somebody else  ???  ???

So who would you have preferred to buy these firms up
The Yanks?
The French? Germans? Indians? Gulf Arabs? Turks? UK based and not very pork partial "Russian" Oligarchs?
The Japanese? .........

Funnily enough Sheepy, last year some Research Group produced a list of the ten most under surveillance cities in the world, many were from China, but at number three stood proudly..... London, so there you go...

30 pieces of silver?
The funny thing is the Chinese are always telling us what they intend, like it wasn't bats but we would be bats to believe it, or that it isn't anything personal that populists have a different vision, you must come in line with CCP policy. Which just so happens to be a surveillance state which we will beg for, everyone answerable to Beijing and either through the EU or otherwise buy Chinese goods. The list is rather longer but that will start you on the right track. I am sure SVP will be having his say.
I wouldn't bet on anyone returning their 30 pieces of silver, they ain't the type.
Which in fairness they keep repeating democracy has failed, only because they know full well, we never had democracy in the first place and the populists were the only ones standing up for it.
