Very good point. BBC Droitwich up the road is still transmitting on 198 kHz at 500 kW and on 3 medium wave frequencies, but no one on the earth is actually listening to them. The way forward is emergency internet broadcasts, if thought necessary, direct to phones by text.

It seems a fairly obvious development. I see no reason why BBC shouldn't raise funds like others in the industry rather than expect us to fund their repeats.

Is a British Broadcasting Corporation actually relevant any longer? I thought it was a service in the beginning, there to give the 4 minute warning or whatever and any other relevant public announcements. Surely the media has developed beyond that requirement.

Does anyone actually believe a word that lying bastard Boris says?

I dare say the Tristans will do their usual "we are a national treasure and the envy of the world " schtick, but I doubt that it will work this time.

Actually that is not a bad wheeze. Boris will effectively cut taxes by £3.6 billions at no cost at all to the Treasury while giving nearly every household in the country a £154 annual rebate.

Bojo once said that he liked the idea of having his cake and eating it as well. It looks as though he is about to do just that.  :D

It's a dead cat.

They are desperately trying to distract from the awful interview where Johnson out a journalists phone in his pocket rather than talk about the 4 year old boy who had to sleep on the floor at Leeds Hospital.

You can see the other attempt with the "labour activist punched ministers aide" take they tried to get running

It nearly worked, except a video of the incident came to light ....

Dunno if this has been covered but I was surprised that Boris risked the row so close to the election. But apparently the licence is not universally loved and its abolition might not do the blond moppet any harm at all
