Oh you and Conor get over yourselves, more moral superiority looking down your noses at those who voted in a way you disapprove of.

Ha so the the ads and broadcasts aren't much of a problem beebly, but Johnson and co criminal liars, most politicians lie and always have to get their way look at Bliar and Bush with a war that saw over a million dead and trouble we are still dealing with now and you two get in to a lather over Boris but the others no siree it's sad that you attempt to corner leavers with questions which have evolved over a period where your attempts to overturn a vote have become more and more desparate.

They don't want to be told it's all baloney, even if they know it inside, just like a fundamentalist Christian doesn't really want to hear that Moses probably never split the sea.

Ha ha ha - Of course he didn't. God did that for him.  :hattip

The study in question (the "zero false labour ads" one) looked a FB over a (iirc) 4 day period in early Dec.

So the and in question wouldn't be covered in that study.

It is, if course possible, that the 4 day period was an outlier and the actual figures are closer.

My bug bear isn't so much with the campaign adverts and video's.

It's with the actual statements (in interviews) of politicians.

I expect weasel words and cherry picking stats.  It's normal.

But Johnson (and others) are going a step beyond.

They are now happy to say, repeatedly, something that is verifiably untrue.  Rather than try and lie then retract if they get caught like normal politicans, they are engaging in actually trying to convince you of an untruth by pure repetition.

The story of the emperor's New clothes ends when the boy points out the emperor is naked.

Emperor Johnson and Grand Vizer Gove would simply keep insisting that the emperor was wearing clothes despite the fact everyone could clearly see his junk.

What's really worrying is that people are accepting it and even believing it

Do you believe Johnson's claim that there will be no checks between NI and GB?  Are you going to defend someone wishing to be (and being) our PM telling a bare faced untruth on a fairly major matter?

I think it's worse than that Javert. Personally I don't think even Brexiteers really believe anyone anymore, but the ideology is so entrenched that Brexit has become 'Brexit for Brexit's sake' rather than 'Brexit for Britain's Benefit'.

I've often compared Brexit to a religion on this forum.  It doesn't matter if people know, deep down, that the stories don't really make any sense or have any evidential basis.  All that matters is having faith, or in this case believing in Britain, because otherwise you aren't a true believer and therefore not a true patriot.

Boris knows it. He knows he just has to keep repeating the same shite and avoiding interviews with tough questions — not because he thinks people will believe it — but because he knows that they just want to keep hearing what they want to hear rather than face up to the reality. They don't want to be told it's all baloney, even if they know it inside, just like a fundamentalist Christian doesn't really want to hear that Moses probably never split the sea.

Really so the Labour ad in Wales where an NHS nurse told everyone that the tories planned to sell the NHS to trump and had to be pulled because she wasn't a nurse at all but an actress and drama teacher is a figment of imagination.

Well if it was a party political broadcast ok, but the article you linked claimed it was a TV advert which would be illegal in the UK.

Well a party political broadcast is an ad,in any event it disproves your original post does it not?

These type of things are why we have so many problems in this country.  I suppose she was also eating a bacon sandwich in the wrong way as well.

In other news, Dianne Abbott has been spotted out and about having her photograph taken wearing 2 left shoes of different styles.

It does show 2 things:

She is truly of the extreme left.

She is unlikely to be capable of being the Home Secretary.

and I suppose you have a source for that?

Not saying you made them up, but devoid of context the numbers 90 and 104 mean nothing.

I don't really understand where this last comment is coming from.

In my opinion, taking the various adverts and statements I have seen (and it's entirely possible I have missed Corbyn claiming that Tories are lizard people from dimension X or Swindon claiming to have scored the winning goal in the 1966 world cup) the Tory campaign has indulged in a different scale of deception this time around.

Fudging graphs, quoting cash instead of real terms etc are all the usual run if the mill.  The LDs are famous for using misleading bar graphs.

But things like flat out lying repeatedly about NI checks is new.  It's not surprising as it's exactly the same tactics Vote Leave used and the Tories are basically now run by vote leave.

Who do you believe is telling the truth? Johnson or the Irish government, EU, his own withdrawal agreement text, multiple government departments and pretty much any expert on borders you can find

The numbers were from a electoral committee report on LBC radio yesterday. It was on the Sheila Foggherty show around 3:30 ish yesterday.

I don't have a link to it but will see if I can pin it down to a time.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Also the father of a boy in hospital who attacked Boris over the NHS. He was a Labour activist also.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
