Wasn't the west country known a seat of Liberal support — before Thorpe, that is...?

Well after Thorpe, it was a Lib/Dem area until the Lib/Dems got into bed with the Tories.
Where I live is very much a Tory marginal, I doubt the current totally useless Tory MP can survive the next general election. (It was Lib/Dem from 1997 until 2015.)

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

Smashing Tory dominance in the party's traditional areas is Liberal Democrats leader Ed Davey's plan. Can it work?

It should work in Cornwall, with the post Brexit disaster, and people being evicted from rented homes so the landlord can run them as AirB&B/holiday lets. This has led to a situation of labour shortages in hospitality and tourism because there is nowhere for staff to live.
