I am neither socialist or left wing. What I am not is a compassionless bastard who would not give their urine to a thirsty dog, which us the what Tories are.
I've never needed to give my urine to any thirsty dog. It's best to get some water from the tap, into a nice stainless steel dog's bowl.
I don't know where you yokels get your disgusting ways.

am glad the wife and children have private medical insurance as back up.

Private health insurance is limited. There are many exclusions and things that it just does not cover.

Or you get seriously ill and the insurers say eff off you're not covered......have seen that happen, and some may eventually win the argument and then die cos of the delay.

How like our own dear NHS.

I reckon Nick has the right idea. I have seen the difference between the treatment give the carriage trade and the plebs and am glad the wife and children have private medical insurance as back up. Personally, I don't want to be poked and proded by some spotty bummed kid and if brandy and aspirin don't cure me then l figure that is God's way of saying it is time for me to join my mum and dad. But I feel ok and think that He will let me have my next 42 years plus.

Typical left wing socialist mentality: the ones who actually get off their arse and do something should be ashamed.

As for this life changing event:

If I die, I have adequate life assurance to keep my family warm.
If I become ill I have private medical insurance.
I also have private pensions.

It's called hard work and preparation, not sitting around waiting for someone else to give me handouts.

Yeah.

And when they run out ?

I recall the chairman of the Tory party in sadly broke as it became known. He was all over the papers in 93 saying how all these people being thrown out of their homes were fools for not getting private insurance to cover their misfortune.

Then Rolls Royce sacked him.

As he was on a temporary work contract that had not been "tenured" his insurer refused to pay and he became the latest to be repo'd a week later.

He seemed to have shut up by then.

Frankly Nick with your frankly disgusting attitude you should be ashamed of yourself.
I would point out it only takes one life changing event happening to you for you to end up needing the benefits system.
The Tories deserve to be called the Nasty Party.

Oh what a shame, the poor little darlings have to pay something towards their existence. Oh, no they don't, they pay it out of the money they are given from the government anyway. Stop it Pappy, you'll have me in tears.

Your knowledge of the benefits system appears to be zero,  neither rent or mortgages are paid in full and have not been for since Tory austerity.
Support for mortgages payments is very limited:-  https://www.gov.uk/support-for-mortgage-interest

Local Housing Allowance is a maximum of 70% of local average rent and councils who now have the responsibility for administering LHA on pay around 70% of that 70% of that. Leaving a massive shortfall.
Basically you are woefully ignorant about the benefits system and the emergent properties of Tory Austerity.

Where do you get that first one from ?

And who is saying the second ?

I ask because most in my eldest's street don't see that in a MONTH and my youngest now works on UC fraud and doesn't have anything like that as a workload across the section so I'm very curious to know where you got those figures from. I think she will be too.

Benefits of £500 a week per household are not uncommon

Fraud up by 5% to 13% for UC, that's around 1 in 8 claims.

I have never stated that. What there is not is the vast army you imply there is.
I was asked  sometime ago to report anyone locally who seemed to have unexplained wealth.  There is little to no sign of that at all.
People out of work and on state benefits can't have the lifestyle you appear to think they have. (Unless they are up to something criminal.) Because since Tory austerity, the hostile environment from the DWP, and the claimant commitment they would soon get a visit from the DWP fraud inspector and probably the police.

You're saying a family all on benefits with their rent / mortgage paid can't have SKY TV, big tv, smoke and drink? You're deluded.
Benefits of £500 a week per household are not uncommon, with rent that's the equivalent of a £40k salary.

Well if you believe Pappy there isn't a single person on the dole taking the micky so I'll split the difference with you. Only 50% are scum bags 😉.
