I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Yes I watched my fellow Torontonian smash the Habs girl all over the court and loved every moment of it . Even seeing the spoilt brat loose the plot during the 5 minutes it took  to put a plaster on our girls scratch was fun .

I dont for one moment think her family are short of a few bob though this has probably elevated their girl onto another level . Good luck to her and all that the  dedication to her sport will bring

And the way they just handed her a cheque for $2.5 million on the court was so crass. You never see that at UK events.

Quite.

Women never got that much

Can't help wondering how much tax she will pay on it though

All that "team" are expensive

Same here.

If you want to see how a real professional handles victory acquired through an opponent's injury, go back to Wimbledon and see how the player that was granted the match after Emma let her nerves freak her out handled that.

It is NOT the done thing to celebrate a win through your opponents medical misfortune. It is also not the done thing to whinge that your winning streak is being screwed by the need for a doctor to stop blood from contaminating the court.

I was more disheartened that many in the audience booed Emma for ruining their little darlings winning streak by ripping her leg open.

And I swear I heard someone yell "come on, TIM".

Absolutely not!! She was arrogant and cocky in all her interviews and then showed her class, or lack of it when she threw her toys out of the pram. I could have quite happily slapped her across the face, and I don't condone violence, especially to 19 year old girls but she made my blood boil with her tantrums.

Yes watched it and best of luck to her, regarding others comments if it's what she wants great but if it's parents looking to live their lives through their kids I've seen far too much of that and unhappy people forced in to things they don't want.

Don't know the ins and outs but all the controversy around Britney Spears and her father don't look good.

As to her opponent.....spoilt kid stamping her feet,as I watched I half expected a "you cannot be serious moment".

I hope she gets what she wants and the money she earns makes her happy is all you can say.
Energy....secure and affordable, not that hard is it?

Perhaps but she doesn't stand much chance when you see how her sister and Mother were reacting and her coach. I would imagine she has learned by example and hopefully she is young enough to get some corners knocked off in the coming years.  Even McEnroe calmed down in the end. Hopefully she will see the media responses at some point and learn something. She did all that within earshot of Emma while she was getting treatment and it was an indication of Emma's class when she was so magnanimous to her afterwards. I actually think it would be lovely if Emma called it a day and decided to go to Uni. having made her mark.

Oh I do hope not. It is such a cynical world. With her talent spotted from a very young age it is hardly surprising that both her parents hope and expect the highest level of effort and commitment from her. Aren't we all like that as parents? I know I am. I think it was more about making development of her prodigious talent available to her. We don't know what they have gone without to let her achieve this. She has also achieved good educational results and has only just left 6th form so if her parents were really chasing the money would they have encouraged her so much at school? I think they are aware of the pitfalls and made sure she had a strong fall back position via her education. At the end of the day you can lead a horse to water but.. Emma has had to want this too. She certainly plays like she does.

Not everyone is all about the money although those currently trying to get hold of her coat tails will no doubt have only one objective. I guess time will tell.

I did not watch the match but I heard her say on the news, something like, "My father is difficult to please, but..." which says a lot about who is driving the show along.
He will decide according to his objectives.
What are his objectives?  ::)

As I often say, follow the money, and they will.

Am I the only one to have watched Emma Raducanu play last night? It was a stunning match I thought with two well matched players. It was a shame that Leylah appeared to lose her sportsmanship when Emma had to be bandaged up but I guess we should forgive her in view of her obvious disappointment. Emma looked really naive as she gazed wide-eyed at the celebrations yet her comments were spot on.

My real concern is for Emma's future. Already £ & $ signs are being spewed left and right. Poor girl she is just 18 barely out of school and it has been a meteoric rise to the top, but it seems she will be everyone's property but her own. It is clear that the hangers on are already clasping at her skirts in an effort to make money from her and although I don't begrudge her the potential earnings wouldn't it be nice if just for once she was a person to say thanks but no thanks at least for a while so that she can be allowed to grow and develop without the weight of the commercialism and others attempting to glow in the reflection of her glory?

I sincerely hope that she is able to keep a team that will really protect her and keep her as grounded as she is now.
