The nuance of the thread is about looking at ways to improve the nhs systems in all our countries , and seeing what works in others that we might copy .

Most sensible people recognise that fact except the usual suspects with their closed minds while they shriek loudly about the horrors of the yank system which no one as far as im aware is minded to copy .

The NHS  , like certain others subjects , cannot be debated with any reason because of the hysterics who will not tolerate any change  , hence it will keep spiralling into decay until we are forced to confront its problems.

Thomas that is ONE persons experience it does not reflect the reality.
France has serious problems with healthcare including including corrupt doctors.

Dont shoot the messenger pappy simply because you dont like the message.

For example , you regularly used the world health systems imperfect system for international comparisons when it came to mocking the uk conservative government over covid deaths...

...and now when the same organisation compares differeing nations health systems......you simply try and rubbish the methodology as it doesnt say what you want it to.

Thomas you have no idea about the problems within the French health care system despite spending far more on healthcare than than the UK does.

New Labour's PFI schemes are also an ongoing financial disaster for the NHS. And in spite of efficiency drives, the number of managers and pen pushers have multiplied. Also too many top NHS doctors and surgeons devote too much of their time to lucrative private patients. Fewer managers and pen pushers, much less private involvement, NHS doctors and surgeons required to work full time for the NHS, a full reappraisal of ongoing PFI contracts, with a legal right introduced to cancel any found to be excessive in cost pending renegotiation, and better paid frontline staff are all needed.

Pleanty of things we can learn from other countries , but as long as the labour types continue to "canonise" the nhs beyond any form of criticism and change for the better , it will continue its downwards spiral and ever increasing demands for more and more money into the bottomless pit.

I think that is pretty much the case with the NHS as well Tommy. This Muriel Demarcus sounds like any worried mum anywhere in the world.

I think the problem is that the physician always listens to you, you always given a prescription, a blood test whatever, but you don't necessarily get cured.

The daughter of a friend was a GP until a couple of years ago when she finally snapped. Turning on the patient's mum she said that it was just a childhood aliment and that the kid's only problem was that the parent was being hysterical. Probably true, but the friend's daughter was forced to resign and marry a banker. She now has a child of her own and is just as nutty as any other parent.
