And you really don't think the EU are trying to punish us to stop anyone having any thoughts of leaving.
How is the EU punishing the UK, the UK made agreements and they are not keeping up with their commitments, do you think it's punishment because the EU call them out on it ? or do you think those agreements shouldn't be implemented the way they were agreed. Or maybe your talking about something else, how is it the EU is punishing the UK.

In spite of the fact that anything that hits them will hit us because they are still our biggest trading partner? That's not very sensible is it!!

And why the malice towards another bloc of nations now we are no longer part of it? It makes your malicious thinking look ugly.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Starmer has to come out each and every interview to deny what we all know.
And those of us who were actually in the party and had a vote the last time he was seeking election for something, are all too well aware of Starmer's willingness to brazenly lie to get elected, then do what he really wants if enough muppets are taken in by it to put him into office.

Beware Starmer. He will tell any lie to get elected, but he will be true to what he really thinks if he wins. And it may well be nothing like what he promised.

What the eu needed was to remain a common market instead of the aspiration despite all the denials to become the USE.
Im sure you will remember this at the next election cromwell , that given half a chance  , in among all their usual empty promises of champagne socialism and mending the ills of the world , behind the scenes the labour party will do everything they can to turn the uk into a satellite colony of the USE with little to no power.

Starmer has to come out each and every interview to deny what we all know.

The separate sovereign states will be just as good as trading partners, probably more so. We hat the EU needs more than anything is dissolution.

I can't believe that that man does anything without an agenda.
Of course he doesn't.

Absolutely, but anything that hits the EU is fine by me.

So Vlad confirms his power. He has steadily put Russia and himself in a strong position.
Vlad is a power politics diplomatic, military, political, economic, chess player and an old Russian nationalist wanting Russia to be great again.

Economic interaction with other countries are viewed by him in this light. What can he control? How can he extend Russian influence? How can he increase Russian power? Relying on such a character and his nation for our energy supplies is foolish. If we genuinely have no choice, then he has power over us.

Russia and China too are not behaving exactly like the USSR of old. Unlike the USSR they are adopting and adapting capitalism to serve the national interest and are making increasing economic inroads into other states, including the UK. Our totally free market model where everything is up for sale to the highest bidder, makes us vulnerable. Because when it comes to key industries and services, Russia and China might well make sure they are the highest bidders. We need to be much more careful about what we sell and to whom.

But on the plus side the price of difficult to guarantee the supply of electricity is to be reduced.
Maybe we should all go to Machinery Mart for petrol-powered generators — Mrs is as pleased as punch as she's realised that her new car can do the job...

LOL I was thinking the same but 2nd thoughts made me think that solar generator might be the way to go.

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

Barry

Mrs tells me they want to put an extra levy (TAX) on energy to pay for the fabled green net zero agenda.
That's for the pensioners to pay a 25% increase out of that 2.5% they dangle in front of us. Everyone says hip hip hooray, we have to pay for the virus mishandling.
I still want the 8%, it will go further towards the 10% inflation which is coming.
† The end is nigh †

Sheepy

I kid you not at the Express some minster in the government has realised energy is being weaponised, now how smart is that?

And while the hopeless cases in Government run around like headless chickens because they sold our basic services for cash, instead of investing in the UK, who now have been ordered around by Brussels as usual, we might be sitting back and laughing at you as well, maybe we are thinking we will wait for the EU and France to strike the first blow and maybe have already considered our retaliation. As by then it will be fully warranted and just.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

I guess he wasn't joking when he said he was going to let the pressure build up before he opened the taps. That dark sense of humour of his!
No cheaper Russian gas though. It just looks like that because the prices pushed up so far.
