Well your gland apart it's a bit rich you complaining about the plebs answering your disdain for them, and do you want a list of all your posts taking the piss out of Smurfy?
Well, you have to admit he's worth taking the piss out of occasionally...

PS — who's complaining about what?
On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

Good to see you're concentrating on the important aspects of Climate Change, such as spelling. Well done.

As for the rest, it seems too limiting for the herd to concentrate on ganging up on Gerry and Papa, so I try to offer myself as an occasional additional target. Gland my popping in from time to time to offer the service has been worthwhile and noted...

I know how keen you are on correct English, so I corrected biassed for you. :)

OK, you have a point. The quality of debate on this forum is like the curate's egg. We have to make do with what is available and we can't all make your standards, PP.
I just thank you that you take the time to demean yourself to pop in to this failing and sub standard forum to make intelligent contributions to try to pull us plebs up by our bootstraps. I fear it is likely to be in vain as we oldies just don't have the mental pathways that we used to. You young fit men are obviously capable of cutting edge, clear and logical thought. This makes us look pathetic in comparison.

I'm off now to figure out why CoPs 1- 25 didn't achieve enough to change the world sufficiently. Maybe they need deep thinkers with switched on minds like yours, Pat.

Have we reached peak Climate Change hysteria?
I doubt it.

The tumult and the shouting increases;

But the Captains and the Kings have departed

Macron has left, Boris isn't saying anything and neither Xi nor Putin could be bothered to show up. All that is left is a bunch of mouthy teens being mouthy teens.

I've heard rumours Greta the Gobliness' led the community singsong ... Whose chorus was "shove Cop26 up your arse"
Indeed John,a charming young lady?

And if those horrible deniers sang that can you imagine the reaction?

No, Mr Pastry's hope was that he could make a few brilliant points that would do him the world of good in the forthcoming presidential election. Instead he is in danger of becoming bogged down in some idiotic scuffle over tips to the water bailiffs on the Grand Union Canal. Or whatever our fishermen are kicking up the dust over. So he has gone home before things get worse.

To be honest, this GOP26 has been a bit of a dud so far.

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

It is thought that Mr Macron's plan was always to head back to Paris after the first day of the summit. He was also at the G20 gathering in Rome over the weekend.

Aren't most of the country leaders due to leave about now? It's up to the various Sherpas, specialists and climate negotiators to get on with things from here on...
True but Macron didn't stay for the royal shindig last night. Sulking they say.

It seems Macron has headed home for an early bath. That's how important the climate is to him.

Were you really expecting more interest here?

There's about a dozen regulars on this forum, of which one third are either too biased, obsessed, or away with the pixies to debate and make any rational input about any topic, leaving the remaining few to chat about their infirmities, try a bit of humour and — very occasionally — make a point that may or may not be valid and might try to stir things up.

Commenting on the numbers of people, planes and cars for a two-week UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow seems to me to be missing the point.

The problem is there are  8,000,000,000 people, 1,500,000,000 vehicles and 25,000 planes in the world.  In the UK alone, 300,000 people travel in and out of London every day — and even 42,000 travel in and out of Reading daily. Each one of these people (us) and (our) things is contributing to, and demanding, daily damage to the planet at a quicker rate than it's able to repair.

It's taken 30 years to get the majority of the world's leaders, and about half its population, to take climate change this seriously. So were you really expecting the motley collection that makes up Pol-Tics.com to act any differently...?
