The thread opener appears to be wrong it should say Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors not Carbon Dioxide (CO2) detectors.

As C02 is a heavier than air gas it won't float away somim very confused about the usefulness of measuring it.
True for CO2 in still air. But moving air — even if caused through drafts — helps disperse the gas. I think they have spent substantially more than Corbyn promised to.

Majority of CO2 monitors not yet delivered to schools as COVID absences rise

The government has been urged to "pick up the pace" in getting CO2 monitors to schools as latest figures revealed more than half of the promised 300,000 devices are still yet to be delivered.
