To be honest I don't go there much.

But I do draw a distinction between criticism of any religion and bigotry against anyone for that religion. They are two very different things.

But that was a few years ago. These days I have turned my back on the church for numerous reasons.

But I wonder how the sort of hellfire and brimstone fundamentalism I heard on Hyde park forty years or so ago would fare nowadays with Isis's scriptural wing taking over the place ....

It is sometimes worth wondering how many of us on this forum would have gone to the gas chambers, or at leastr the concentration camps, had we lived in the Third Reich.

As a socialist left winger, I would have had to shut my gob or I'd have ended up in Dachau or Buchenwald.. The Jewish girl I went to school with who was one of the nicest people I have ever known, would have been murdered.

We are fortunate not to be living in such a time or place.

Maybe we need to invent an android that is simultaneously, muslim, Jewish, gay, lesbian, black, Pakistani, disabled, female, poor, and a welfare claiming asylum seeker.

Then all the ignorant bottom feeders can direct their hate at it and leave everyone else the feck alone.

No, in this country, "people" just spit on and act aggressively to buses with Jewish schoolgirls aboard.

I went to the supermarket earlier on and a lady asked if I was Jewish. I said no, but I am part Pikkie so our families probably went to the same gas chambers. She gave me an old fashioned look but also a small menorah, which I thought was nice.

So,Happy  Chanukah to one and all !
