Many of us have the suspicion that had this happened in Surrey or Kent, it would have been national news throughout, and the army would have been called in  a week ago at least. If it had happened in London we'd have never heard the end of it.

I feel so sorry for those still suffering power cuts mostly up North. Surely this should have been called as a National emergency. Couldn't troops have been deployed to help. Surely they have the skills and fitness to put temp. power lines or at least reach those who are without internet etc.

After so long it must threaten life for some. Hardly anything has been made of it on National news, I can't help but feel that more should have been done.

Has anyone noticed how snow and blizzards never make the headlines unless it hits London and the home counties?

Too true as well ,its a known fact that when 1'' of snow lands south of the Thames it costs the economy more than when 2ft lands in the midlands .

We don't have any lights outside my house other than a movement operated security light.  We have no Christmas lights inside the house either. 
The Christian Church stole the feast of Geol (literally the mouth of the carnivore,) off of the Pagans and turned it into Christmas. Geol predates Christmas by several thousand years.

Yes Boris says its a power cut as well along with it being ''a bit windy'' . He did sympathise though saying it must be tough for  those without power .

Still at least Kwarteng has said normal service should be resumed by Christmas .

It was disaster for 2 people and thousands of seal pups. Otherwise it's a load of wasted frozen food.
