What could the motives be that unite dictatorships and democracies, left wing leaders and right wing ones, if not genuine attempts to minimise the virus? If it is all lies,on a global scale, in which every kind of leader is simultaneously complicit, what is the motive that could unite dictators and democrats, socialists, liberals, and conservatives? Those insisting it is all lies need to offer credible reasons and motives as to why we are all being lied to globally by leaders and elites who include sworn enemies of each other. In the absence of that we simply have to believe the obvious...that diverse leaders are taking similar actions against a similar threat, ie the virus.

Exactly. Most other governments around the world, whether left or right, democratic or authoritarian, are taking similar actions. The government has announced new Covid rules for England, in response to concern over the Omicron variant.
It says people should work from home where possible, and will have to show their Covid status for entry to many venues.

What are the new measures for England?

From Friday 10 December, face coverings will be mandatory for many indoor public venues including theatres and cinemas, as well as in shops and on public transport. Exceptions will be made for singing, exercise, and hospitality settings.

From Monday 13 December, people should work from home "if they can".

From Wednesday 15 December people will need to show their NHS Covid Pass - or a negative lateral flow test - to gain entry to:

• Nightclubs
• Indoor seated venues with more than 500 people
• Unseated outdoor venues with more than 4,000 people
• Any venue with more than 10,000 people

Your suspicions that it is all lies would be more convincing if you could offer credible reasons for the supposed lies which also explain why most other governments in the world - whatever their complexion - are doing the same. Thus far I have not seen any such globally compelling motives that don't look like the most rabid conspiracy theorist bollocks. Which is why some of us struggle to take your objections seriously as things stand.

Boris has said we will need a Covid pass from the NHS to go to certain venues. Face coverings will become mandatory (legal requirement) for those who are not exempt.

I'm just waiting for that freedom which comes from being vaccinated. What a bunch of liars. There's no emergency now.
