My type of feller. What he said there is crude ,maybe, but it's the fundamental difference, in our politics.
He wouldn't make half as much noise as the average Tory , about doing more with his gains , Ill  gotten, or otherwise, for the whole population . And neither would I.  I would sink one or two with him and shake his hand ;D ;D.
Im not sure if he was talking about sharing the Tory's money or his own ,probably the former .  But he came across as straight bloke ,I wonder what he would make of todays rabble ?

Which asks another question . Do we vote what's best for me or what we think is  best for us  ?

Well, for my vote it's me, me, me every time. They don't give a shit about me or the country, they're all me me me, so I'm just returning the favour ....

Having said that, I cant recall a situation where I felt the country would be worse off from who I voted for, and often it was as because my choice list so maybe my open pro me stance isn't so bad....

Ok John I get your line of thought but the good ol' US seems like here to have a paucity of any political leaders of quality, that Trumps a viable alternative only emphasises that since his main talent is talking bollocks.
If only Cloughie were still alive

The one thing I would say is Trump seemed to try to do what he promised, and was thwarted by opponents, or of course maybe he knew that would be the outcome of his attempts.

He once said ''Of course Im a Champagne socialist , the only difference between me and a Tory is that he keeps his money while I would share it ''
He was also known to 'like a bung'  and a drop of Scotch  . Seems he ticked all the boxes for the job ;D

Bit of a leftie Cloughie, actually fancied a bit of politics, so I was told.

Which asks another question . Do we vote what's best for me or what we think is  best for us  ?

Most people I know vote for what's best for them, thinking that must be best for the country.

I would have voted for him because the alternative offered me nothing at all

I would have

I said this before of course but I took no interest in American politics until around the time trump ran for nomination my youngest appeared to be pondering becoming a GI Bride

It quickly became apparent that for a person of my skills and background Trump promised a much brighter future than his opponents both inside the party and in the Democrats.

I would have voted for him because the alternative offered me nothing at all

Maybe given the lack of enthusiasm in naming anyone who we would vote for we should do what the majority of English Football teams do and employ a foreign manager :-\

Heres the shortlist

Viktor Orban  (a little defensive ,likes playing in goal  )
Donald Trump (would build a good wall though likely to score own goals  )
Alice Weidel (bright ideas going forward though likes playing in Europe  )
Jaroslaw Kaczynski (susceptible to a red card )
Jair Bolsonaro  (if you prefer a bit of Latin flair on the right wing  )

We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.
