Visibility is a bastard.

We went out in a RIB with them, and at a mere five metres down decided to use the universal hand sign thus

With your left hand, make the "OK sign" (make an 'O' with your thumb and index finger)

With your right, extend your index finger and insert it through the "O" made with your left, and then remove it, repeat several times.

Now with your right hand, form the image of a gun and pretend to shoot at an imaginary target.

Finally, and again with your right hand, mime the picking up of a glass which you raise to your lips

From personal experience from Muff to Sharm El Sheik, from the Yukatan to the sub arctic, this hand signal means but one thing

"f**k this for a game of soldiers, I'm off back to the bar"
