Justin Trudeau and family move to secret location as Canada trucker protests spark security fears, report says

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and his family have left their home in Ottawa for a secret location, the CBC reports, amid security concerns as thousands pour into the Canadian capital on Saturday in trucker convoys to protest vaccine mandates.
The PM's office has said it will not comment on Mr Trudeau's location for security reasons.
The Canadian Parliament's Sergeant-at-Arms has warned that demonstrators could show up at the homes of officials, something Mr Trudeau knows well.

In 2020, a Canadian Armed Forces member carrying a gun rammed his vehicle into the gates of Rideau Hall, where the Trudeaus live, hoping to reach the prime minister.
Mr Trudeau has condemned the growing anti-mandate movement in the country as contrary to public health and Canadian values of kindness.

"The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing do not represent the views of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to continue to ensure our freedoms, our rights, our values, as a country," Mr Trudeau has said.

As protests began on Saturday, the Parliamentary Protective Service estimated up to 10,000 people may attend the events this weekend, and the Ottawa Police Service has received reinforcements from the Toronto, London, York, and Durham regions, plus the Ontario Provincial Police.
Some of the events organisers have called on supporters to avoid violence.
"We cannot achieve our goals if there are threats or acts of violence," BJ Dicher told the CBC. "This movement is a peaceful protest, and we do not condone any acts of violence."

So far, there have been "no incidents to report" according to the Ottawa police.
Still, police have been concerned by some of the violent rhetoric coming from the movement.
Some on social media, whose ties to the convoy protesters are unclear, have called for the Ottawa demonstrations to turn into an attack on Parliament, in the style of the 6 January insurrection at the US Capitol.
On Friday, Ottawa Police Service chief Peter Sloly warned of "lone-wolf" elements who would use the protests to cause havoc.

OTTAWA—A "freedom convoy" of Canadian truckers is on its way to Ottawa in protest of vaccine mandates. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pushing back at accusations of tyrannical government overreach by claiming the truckers just hate him because he's black.

"As a proud black man, this is the kind of discrimination I have faced my whole life," said Trudeau in a nationwide address over Zoom. "These truckers are a bunch of racist white men. They're probably not even gay."
"They only hate me because I'm black!"

Trudeau, who is currently quarantining in spite of a negative COVID-19 test, also sent off dozens of angry letters to "whoever hires truckers" because of all the racism. While literally shaking, he wrote, "If you oppose vaccines you are racist, sexist, and think a Snow White remake is a good idea."
His intern passed the letters on to Canadian Mounties who rode to the four corners of Canada to take the message to the people.

Trudeau, who is suspiciously not black looking, was offended when members attempted to spin his statement, suggesting he was merely close to the black community.
"I am not speaking metaphorically," said Trudeau. "Look at my skin. It's as black as night. It's midnight black!"
"If you weren't so naively color blind you'd understand," he added.

At publishing time, President Biden lent his support to Trudeau, calling him a 'surprisingly articulate black fella'.

There is a US/Canada sub category in the World News section of the BBC News website. You would imagine it would be a prominent feature in that section, but it has been completely excluded.
Further of course, if there were a similar convoy rolling through a country of which the BBC does not approve, I have little doubt it would feature heavily not only online but also in the Broadcasts. The BBC afterall highlights much small stories in such countries than this one.

Yes read about this a few days ago . Truckers protesting about crossing the US border into Canada without the vaccine . They have been given fair warning and exemption . A good % I read 80-90% somewhere have had the jab  ,the Vaccine is freedom not  driving to the capital with other anti and extremist  groups .

By the way even if the Canadian government do concede and allow truckers to cross the border they aren't going to be able to get back because the USA have the very same vaccine rules on cross border traffic .

I've heard about it, only because I follow the freedom protests.  Best news is on independent channels, Youtube, Telegram, etc.  F**k the BBC.
