Is the UK more racist than anywhere else?

It's not true that the UK is "more racist than anywhere else", that seems like a huge exaggeration. I agree with cromwell's OP.

..But equally, to deny that it's a problem at all or that it even exists in this country is incredibly naive, or deliberately obtuse. I will go for naive with many people saying this, as they don't appear to harbour nasty intentions, but I don't see how you can deny this.

Black Britons and those of south Asian origin face "shocking" discrimination in the labour market at levels unchanged since the late 1960s, research has found.

A study by experts based at the Centre for Social Investigation at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, found applicants from minority ethnic backgrounds had to send 80% more applications to get a positive response from an employer than a white person of British origin.

A linked study by the same researchers, comparing their results with similar field experiments dating back to 1969, found discrimination against black Britons and those of south Asian origin – particularly Pakistanis – unchanged over almost 50 years.

Maybe we are a lot better than the US, much of Europe and other places but still nowhere near good enough is it.

And yeh there is anti-white racism in pockets of the country too, as folks said, there's still discrimination against Catholics in Belfast over 50 years later. And poor white working class youths from certain estates in Glasgow etc get overwhelmingly profiled and stopped by cops... but that's all part of the discrimination too isn't it, that just means the problem is worse than we thought..

I only ask because on the way to an appointment today I briefly whilst scanning the car radio caught a piece on talk radio on how the UK is being portrayed  across the world and particularly in the US as racist by grauniad hacks selling their wares.

So I had a look https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/09/opinion/sunday/meghan-markle-prince-harry.html?searchResultPosition=56">//https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/09/opinion/sunday/meghan-markle-prince-harry.html?searchResultPosition=56

of course there's racism in the UK but compared to the US and other parts of the world?

I think we're being unfairly labelled.

Tarred with the wrong brush, it might be said...

I think a lot of this so-called affirmative action has created a lot of racism towards white British people in the UK.

A little inconvenient for you,no doubt.

We'll have to agree to differ. You maintain coronavirus is the cause. Others see it as an excuse:

In recent weeks, and in a context of increased public concern and anxiety, we have,

regrettably, witnessed examples of hysteria and unacceptable behaviour which has

included verbal and physical abuse of some pupils and school staff on grounds that

appear to be racially motivated.

Letter from Chris Keates (Ms), General Secretary (Acting) to Gavin Williamson MP,Secretary of State, Department for Education

Cause or excuse, does it really matter?

That for instance people abused staff at Chinese takeaways because of coronavirus only confirms the ignorant and brain dead are alive and kicking (some poor innocent sod usually)
Energy....secure and affordable, not that hard is it?

Once again I thank you for making my point.

"The NASUWT is extremely concerned at the extent of increased incidences of abuse, prejudice, xenophobia and racism as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19)"

As a result of Coronavirus, 2 things as I keep saying and you keep reaffirming.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

How many White people have been attacked using the excuse of coronavirus...?

The NASUWT, one of the largest teaching unions in the UK, urged the government to address a surge in incidents of racism and xenophobia in schools linked to coronavirus. The union said it has received increased reports of black and minority ethnic teachers and pupils being subjected to "racist name-calling and intimidation" connected to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The reason cited was Corona Virus. So no, its both parts that are pertinent.

Likewise, I don't feel guilty, but amused, when "sensitive" Whites try to depict themselves as victims of equality legislation and human rights...

I see no problem in calling out the sheer abuse of the above, which this country has rightly led for genuine cases.

As you know, the BBC declared openly it makes no distinction between those who meet the UNHCR definition of someone seeking refuge from war, or from fear of persecution for what they are, what they think or what they do WHEN NONE OF THOSE THINGS attract legal penalty in the country they seek help from, and chancers trying to get a better life somewhere by pretending to be one or other of those groups.

Frankly, this is why the BBC should lose its licence fee. It is no longer an up holder of the law, it is a preacher of the doctrine of soros  and so are you.
