Yes, they are all opinions. What I meant was that was why I didn't respond. You made it sound like a victory because I hadn't answered you, when I don't answer all or every opinion. Yes, after trying to pretend it didn't exist, they reacted in character, I believe to assuage opinion in the west as much as to control a virus no one knows a great deal about. I don't believe either Putin or the Chinese are "crapping themselves" either, I believe they are far more astute than that. If people like smurf can air conspiracy theories on here, mine would be that both the above spot the opportunities to increase their power and influence inherent in this, especially when those "crapping themselves" the most are handwringing liberal democracies whose populations are now in a frenzy of panic despite facts being thin on the ground.

I don't dispute that, I'm saying that because some things may not have been true, it doesn't mean everything government say isn't true. Am I allowed to say that everything BJ and his Brexit government have published is also lies, just because Blair either lied or got it wrong over WMD? Of course not. Their motives are obvious from their comments during house of commons debates which are a matter of public record in Hansard.

Actually, I think they do. Western liberal democracies are their biggest export markets and golden goose, and without them their ruling elite and growing middle class have no grand dream to sell to the masses, at least for now or until other developing markets are big enough to absorb Chinese exports on the scale we do. So having spent the initial period pretending the virus didn't even exist, they got found out and reacted accordingly. Of course, none of this was done to assuage world opinion, only because they are a bunch of ****s  :roll:

Sure, Blair's government may have lied, and others have too. I believe Blairs government did some good things too. I don't generally subscribe to binary choice opinions as a rule, that something is either good or bad at all times.

Well, forgetting the Tories for a moment, I certainly wouldn't put it past China do engineer a virus that targets sick and elderly.  It makes sense - it doesn't much harm kids, it's highly contagious, and China has a problem with overpopulation.  Also, given the Hong Kong protests, it's very convenient for crowd control.

There are also no cases of Covid-19 anywhere near the ferry terminal or where we are going in Brittany. Our mobile home is also very isolated, and at this time of year we will most likely be the only people on the site.

I was making a serious point. The government seems to have forgotten disabled vulnerable people in the planning for mitigating the effects of Covid-19.

I am in the process of packing for a two week holiday, that should cheer you up.
