Some of those are what people get called by others. I can't see anyone choosing to self-identify as 1, 2, or 8, and 6 might seem a fantasy...
I think you can add choices.

So I will put my suggested options out there on the table for you and/or others to comment on for my consideration if you wish.

Something like this....

1. Ultra-nationalist/Fascist
2. Thatcherite Conservative/Neo-liberal
3. One Nation right of Centre Conservative
4. Centrist/Blairite/Liberal Democrat
5. Social Democrat
6. Democratic Socialist
7. Green/Environmentalist
8. Communist/Anarchist

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

Won't work Steve. Nobody wants to be associated with the Right wing even though the Tories are just that. A better poll would be "If the election was held tomorrow, who would you vote for?". Tory rats can't bare to associate themselves to Labour so you get the true reflection on what side of the divide the forum is then.
Not exactly no. Because who you vote for under a FPTP system does not accurately reflect where you stand. Many people feel compelled to vote for something they do not support as a tactical vote against something worse. This phenomenon exaggerates the apparent support for the big two whilst minimising apparent support for anyone and anything else.

Were I running a poll my preferred options would be...

Far Right
Right
Centre Right
Centre Left
Left
Far Left

I think this would be a better version of Toot's poll but is too similar to it to be repeated now.

So I will put my suggested options out there on the table for you and/or others to comment on for my consideration if you wish.

7. Green/Environmentalist
8. Communist/Anarchist

By all means voice any criticisms and I will think about them.

If the maximum number of options are less than 8 I might need to condense them. How many options are allowed in a poll? Anyone got any idea?
We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

I am of the Right, not Centre Right or Far Right — I guess in earlier times I might have been a Thatcherite.

But because of where I live, voting Conservative gets us nowhere (Diane Abbott is our MP, with an overwhelming majority), I carefully consider who to vote for.

I have mostly voted Labour here — simply because Abbott has been a good local MP. But she's now past her sell-by date, and if she doesn't retire before the next election my support may well go elsewhere...

Cobblers, yes did vote Tory because there was no alternative respected brexit and following it through.

Wont be voting for truss or labour, now monster raving looney seems appealing.
I don't think you're a Tory Rat Cromwell, just a guy who lost his way. Plenty on here supporting Truss though. As I said before, you do have to question people's sanity when they call taxing record profits as "bad!"

I'll shut up about it now then, lol.

Just one other thing. Is there any way for us to be able to see who voted for what? Because that itself would be interesting
Just had a look and it doesn't look as though it will show the voters. I don't know if @Nick would have a look to see if it can be changed.

Well take the three in charge. Your good self, Cromwell, and Nick.

Nick is a hard right Tory. You not quite so hard but definitely a Tory

Cromwell is a more complicated figure but if I had to summarise I'd see him as a typical red waller. Socially conservative and nationalistic but economically left leaning. Hard to put him in either camp entirely but you and Nick are definitely right wingers.

As for the wider membership,  myself, HDQQ, Good Old, Boycey and - on some issues - the recently reappeared Smurf are the only left leaners that I can think of who are or in any way ever have been regular posters.  All the rest seem to be adherents of the right, though Patman Post does appear to be very socially liberal with it.

Just my observations.
In charge? Like trying to herd cats.

You've got a vivid imagination, all know better than us we don't know what we're doing and whatever we do is wrong.:P

I would like to run such a poll but fear doing so now would be stepping on Toot's toes. And no true gentleman would do such a thing to a lady, lol.
No worries. This runs 10 days and is just for fun. Yours potentially would be much more serious so diary a future poll by all means. Trust me my toes have been trodden on many many times they are inured.

The poll is already being manipulated Steve. Two far left voters on the most Conservative forum on the Internet. There is me you and Pappy. Everyone else voted Tories in the last election and bow down to Johnsonism.
If we could see who voted for what it would be a whole lot more transparent and difficult to manipulate. I do think some left wingers who reject Blairism might well be tempted to take the far left option as the only left leaning alternative on offer. Who the other one is I have no idea....wouldnt put it past Borchester to be making mischief, it's right up his street humour wise.

But if it is someone genuine, apart from you, me and smurf, there are also HDQQ and Good Old, though the latter would be definitely centre left

If you're not far Left you don't vote Steve. And a bit if history for people, Left and right are synonymous terms anyway and they are terms that reflect what side of the house you sit. Any poll that has any relevance should use terms like... Communist, Anarchist, Socialist, Social Democrat, Libertarian, Conservative, Nazi, Tory. Communists being Far Left and Tories being what is commonly known as Far Right.

I put myself down as centre left,I don't want my country crapped on by others.....I largely try to respect other countries and have said many times the common market was a good idea similarly cooperation with our European neighbours was and is a good idea......the political project is not.
