The tories have failed on law and order . Society in general is policed by itself until it goes wrong and this is such a case.

A couple of thoughts on the article

Zero hours contracts should be banned as should placing untrained people in jobs  that involve facing the public

The security company seems to have got off scott free here , the poor guy is even back in the same job it seems in more danger now than he was before .

The union has done well to help out financially ,that really should be down to his employer though ,contract or no contract they have a duty of care . The company has clearly failed on this and should be in court themselves

Light sentancing doesnt fit with public opinion  , violent people should have minimun sentancing with reviews .

Pretty much agree with all this Streetwalker. Was always against zero hour contracts but when someone is injured at your place of work, there is something wrong with the system that the company can get away paying you because of them. And £4500 raised by a union for a non member explains why every employee should be a union member. It is like insurance.

The tories boast they are the arty of law and order....looks a fail on that point

Jake Berry with his genius of how to ride out austerity when we see zero hour contracts for people like this guy....fail again

The unions who we are told on here are the ruination of this country have to bail him out
everything to do with politics.

I don't know why you think he won't be out in just over a year, prisoners only serve half their sentence or less.

He won't be out in just over a year as there is not the same remission for violence offences. However, 5 years would have been better, as it was an attack on a public official representing the railway company.

What's it got to do with politics, Tories or Labour?
Do we need more prisons so we can give longer sentences?

Does he have a 50 inch tv? A sofa in the garden and as that Tory mp said "if you want to survive the austerity get a better job" well he couldn't he was 50 and in a zero hours contract  which is defended by "a lot of people like them"yeah they do bent employers.

So there he was just doing his job and failed twice by those who've had twelve years to get it right look after their rich mates and are the party of law and order.

Of course we're told it's all the fault of those awful Union people who are ruining this country nowt to do with Tory incompetence  and wallet filling, those terrible people at the RMT had to have a whip round because this blokes zero hours employers would be giving him bugger all.

So failed twice and law and order sees this **** with 23 offences mainly for violence given a paltry 28 months (out in just over a year) whilst this bloke affected for life.

So a thug beats up a railwayman and you reckon it was all the fault of the Tory government Ollie?
