Means Motive and Opportunity
Both sides had the means as they operate BUK systems (although only the Ukraine still used the BUK 1 as a front line system)
Both sides had the opportunity, they were both fighting and had active air defence in the area.
I keep repeating that the day of the Downing was the first day that the Russian Air Force became active in the Donbass, until then the Ukrainians had only been fighting the DPR/LNR militia, who did hot have any Air Force. The Day of the Downing was the first day that the Ukraine would have to switched the Air Defence systems on.

Motive! Russia had no motive to shoot down a Jet Liner, but the Ukraine was desperate even then to draw NATO forces in to the conflict as direct participants, especially as they had a large formation trapped against the Russian border, encircled and being annihilated. We saw the same ply by Zelensky this week with the Poland Incident.
It is now a well observed pattern that when a pro Western force (like moderate headchopping Islamic terrorists in Syria) are getting a stomping, that a senseless outrage is committed and blamed on the Anti Western side, despite the fact that the only side likely to benefit is the Pro - Western one.

As for the Investigation, god help any investigator who comes back with the wrong answer, You can ask Scott Ritter, but sadly you can;t ask Dr David Kelly. So I stand with NATO Kangaroo Court.

Maybe but will sputum be around for ever? 
 Hopefully not and who knows what bargains might be made in the future remember Radovan Karadzic they caught up with him in the end.

They had no trouble paying Iran for the drones they are using in Ukraine. Using a rogue state like Iran will come back to bit them and us.

Quite a good start but the rate for a death on a plane is usually a million, so 298 million there. Plus the aircraft, 450 million.

Mind you if only a fraction of the horror stories I am hearing on the grapevine about the unaudited and untracked Military Aid sent to the Ukraine and finding its way on to the Criminal/Terrorist Black Market are true, the chances of a genuine outrage in the UK or EU are now exponentially higher as a result
