But when Pappy declares on an open forum that he is going to send his mates round to sort me out, the only response you can make is for me to laugh it off?

I posted the scientific definition of work, which frankly few people do these days if that is applied to their occupation.

Well yes and no.

Pappy is confusing the scientific definition with the scientific.

Let us assume Pappy lead his Layabout Army to Land End and had had them jump (or rather thrown because it would be a violation of the Scrounger's Charter to do anything themselves) off.

A scientist would estimate that in each case about 100,000 Joules of work done would have been expended. But in terms of a hard day's graft, well, they would not have done much other than giving us all a good laugh
