The quality of the game as you said is shocking, I bet some Sunday league teams would give them a run for their money, the likes of Bolton, in the third tier would thrash them. Not sure what the wages at THE REEBOK are these days.
It just doesn't work does it.  IMHO it's much down to the size of the goals and the relatively shorter size of women so it makes goal scoring easier.

Some women's sports do work as a spectacle, tennis is the best example but women's football does look so poor in comparison with even lower league men's football.

Exactly — when women's football attracts the crowds, then they should get the money.

It used to get the spectators during and after WWI.  On Boxing Day 1920, 53,000 turned out to watch Dick Kerr's Ladies beat St Helen's Ladies 4-0.

But in 1921, the FA — probably made up of cavalry twill clad old farts similar to those that still bedevil parts of British sport governing bodies today — banned women from playing on Football League grounds. The reason it gave was that: "the game of football is quite unsuitable for females and ought not to be encouraged." That was overturned only in 1969.

It is also important to note that women's football has been one of the fastest-growing sports, both in popularity and publicity, in the country for a number of years. Viewing figures for the game have been steadily increasing, and they have doubled since 2017

UEFA Women's EURO 2022 was a game-changing tournament. It broke several attendance, broadcast and social media engagement records. There was a 574,875 total match attendance across the tournament, including 110,555 international spectators from 104 countries (final had 87,192 attendees, and the average match attendance was 18,544)...

As I have said fair play to them but its not football , its another sport followed by Schoolgirls and dads who follow Arsenal on the telly . ;)
We will get it ramed down our throats that the up coming game between the Euro  and South American winners England v Brazil is a sell out at Wembley ,further proof Womens football has taken off

Looking at it more closely though ticket prices start at £15 for adults and £7.50 for kids . Where else in the UK let alone London  can you have a day out with the Family (of 4)  for £45 ?  It costs more to go to the picture house

Is this yet more woke BS from the Beeb? Who in their right mind would think that any player in the women's game should have equal pay with the men?
I would love to know what the revenue stream is compared to the men's game, I bet it is around the 1% mark.

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

The thing with womans football (other sports run on simlar lines ) is that it has piggy backed on the success of the professional game .
Its development has been excellerated with professional clubs including womens teams within the club framework . Thats all great ,good luck to them happy days .

But lets face it , its been promoted beyond its merit ,its just not that good . If it had its own sports channel nobody would subscribe to it , if it had its own football programmes nobody would watch it .
But no , the BBC now use a good section of its football coverage to show womens football , even once on a Saturday afternoon , a time when mens football is banned from live coverage .
Every panel now includes at least one ex woman footballer nobody has ever heard of even if the did play 300 times for England and won 20 championships and 8 Fa cups .

(you have hit a nerve here Nick)

Our game has dragged womens football along for too long , its time it lived or died on its own merit . The girls will earn what they generate .
Average attendance WSL 20-21 was just shy of 2000 , National league which is 5th tier was was just over 3000 ,players earning about a grand a week so they ,the women should be well happy with that

It's actually even less so your point is well made.

Top 20 women's clubs average £2.1M a year, top 20 men's £400M    ~0.5%

I'd support equal pay for any woman that is able to play as an equal in a men's team, not going to happen a lot is it.

Why pick on the BBC. It is a national news item across broadcast media and the press.
