McAlpine's Fusiliers
The Dubliners

As down the glen came McAlpine's men
With their shovels slung behind them
'Twas in the pub they drank the sub
And up in the spike you'll find them
They sweated blood and they washed down mud
With pints and quarts of beer
And now we're on the road again
With McAlpine's fusiliers
I stripped to the skin with Darky Flynn
Way down upon the Isle of Grain
With the Horseface Toole then I knew the rule
No money if you stop for rain
McAlpine's God was a well filled hod
Your shoulders cut to bits and seared
And woe to he who to looks for tea
With McAlpine's fusiliers
I remember the day that the Bear O'Shea
Fell into a concrete stairs
What the Horseface said, when he saw him dead
Well, it wasn't what the rich call prayers
Wave our navvy short was the one retort
That reached unto my ears
When the going is rough, well you must be tough
With McAlpine's fusiliers
I've worked 'till the sweat has had me bet
With Russian, Czech and Pole
On shuddering jams up in the hydro dams
Or underneath the Thames in a hole
I grafted hard and I've got me cards
And many a ganger's fist across me ears
If you pride your life, don't join by Christ
With McAlpine's fusiliers

On to site came McAlpines men
In line like Bengal Lancers
Not one of them were time served men
Just a bunch of fecking Chancers

Its the way you advance in the world of construction , nobody ever got the top job because they were good at it but more likely they were adapt at holding court down the pub and are 3 stone bigger than the next man .

But this isnt about bullying , its about who is running the country , the government or the civil service and it appears seeing as Richie was hiding (again) all day yesterday that its not him . Friday drinks down Scotland Yard  will be all fist pumps and high fives  this afternoon

Yes, plus on TV reality programs like the apprentice. What surprises me is why more don't get decked or offed.

There you are.

It reminds me of the story of Jack Cohen, the founder of Tesco's. During a business dispute he did not consult his lawyers, he merely tried to wring his opponent's neck

I can recall two — one especially. He is a grey-haired early sixties senior functional director who I've seen reduce a shorthand typist to tears simply because she was delivering an unwelcome bit of info from her boss and couldn't take down accurately a reply about a technology of which she had no knowledge.

He had a reputation, and whenever he shifted function, staff resigned, but he stayed in that company for more than 10 years...

A short hand typist ?

Jesus Christ Pat, when the hell was that?

And the other occasion, did that involve King John pulling the teeth out of Jewish bankers?

And back in the day when I was involved in politics, if someone offended you the usual approach was to invite them outside where you would settle it on the stones.

We appear to be in the age of the Jessification of Politics

John it is NOT the civil servants at fault. it is the arrogant bullies who seem to predominate amongst Tory ministers.

On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

My experience from Defence Procurement is the exact opposite. Hence my opinions. Sadly i was not allowed to use the solution the Saudi's did.
That is just experience of one area. (Military procurement has needed radical reform since the time of wooden battleships.)

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

I agree entirely, these jumped up arseholes in the civil service need taking down a peg or six. A shame they've won here. Someone needs to explain to them who pays their fucking wages ...

The bullying that is rife needs to be stopped. It is NOT acceptable.

Regardless of Rabbs position or indeed his behaviour  I think its a sad day when a guy is forced out because the underlings want to run the show instead of doing what they are told .
