Just been to the dentist and the thing that I noticed was

Did some research for a project on general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, etc, and found several examples where patients, though in the hands of a practitioner, are actually tied to a finance scheme. This could mean patients shelled out hundreds or thousands of pounds for poor service because the practitioner was paid anyway.



The official regulatory bodies with teeth are, NHS or regional health service ombudsman for England, NI, Scotland or Wales (for NHS patients), or the Dental Complaints Service for private patients and the General Dental Council (GDC).



The GDC can be contacted if the dental professional is a risk to patients. All NHS and private dentists practicing in the UK should be registered with the GDC, but it does not resolve complaints and does not award compensation, though there is a review of the scope its operations. The Care Quality Commission is also an arm's length body that needs goading to start investigating.



It seems the only reasonably certain way of getting good treatment is to go by word of mouth, or do what a growing number of people (Germans especially) are doing and seek treatment in Hungary where prices seem more reasonable and the dental work of good quality.



It's understandable where Americans get the phrase "British teeth" from...

Maybe the staff were sh*t. They are in our doctor's surgery. They lied to me and caused me to wait a month when i could have had it sorted the following day, hence wasting time all round. I told them what I thought.

The staff were excellent as were the dentists, as for the local GP practice I have never in the in the 36 years I have been using it, had any problems.

That is yet another very nasty personal attack.  I had no problem with appointments until a national chain of dentists took over the practice and they are obviously  not good employers as all of the old staff who had been there for decades have left.

How do you know you dreary git? You have already admitted that you can't get your teeth fixed because the local dentists hide when you turn up.

I can't afford a private dentist. I am also not a socialist or political, I just, with good reasons hate Tories.

That is because all the young, vibrant dentists come to London. Only the old and infirmed ones stay in your neck of the woods which means that when you want one he is usually on his deathbed.
