As I have probably mentioned before, my grandfather saw service in both world wars and celebrated Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday by going down to the Latchmere in Battersea Park Road with all his old comrades and anyone with a thirst and getting shit faced.

It was, he said, how he and all his old mates really celebrated the end of both wars.

Yes I remember you mentioning it as it was were Mums family came from (she was born in St Thomas's)
Her Uncle served with the Post Office rifles but unfortunately never made the piss up , he is buried in Pernois France and is remembered on the Stockwell war memorial . Age just 23.
Grandad never talked about it 

Dads side were Germans . Less said about that the better
