The problem, i think, is not that 'shit happens' but 'shit happens and the airline does not give a F@@@'

seriously.

i've had problems en route. I've volunteered to not board. I've had to nake an unplanned stop and deplane and wait. I've had to wait it out in a hotel

BUT

because i knew what i was entitled to i got it.

when they wanted a volunteer not to fly the conversation i had was 'so let me get this straight. In exchange for me and my PA giving up the seats you guaranteed we had, you will give us  free access to your PREMIER VIP lounge until the next flight, she can have all the spa shit she wants in your on site hotel, (i could too but it's not my thing) we get fed in your business class restaurant we can have all the drink we want AND you're giving us £250 each AND absolutely 100% guarantee we're on the next flight yes ?

and you'll give us that IN WRITING .......

The key thing here is they don't do that any more. They don't give a shit
As I keep saying, budget airlines are just that, don't complain when they give you nothing. I ALWAYS fly KLM/AF and I never have an issue, I'll be heading to Manchester airport this morning and if it's still bad I am delayed more than 4 hours flying to the States I'll be given €820 in flight vouchers.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Why do people always moan when something happens out of their control . They make the story about them rather than having some empathy for the poor bloke who became unwell .
Shit happens , make the most of it and FFF cheer up , what a miserable peoples we have become .

Which reminds me of the day  when the tour bus I was on with the Mrs broke down . We were staying in Washington and took a two day tour of civil war battle fields  (highly recommended ,its more fun than it sounds ) Anyway the bus was  a mixture of Australians ,Irish and Germans me and the Mrs and a couple from Sunderland .
So we are at gas station on the way back to the capital and the driver says the bus is broke , Kaput , about as much use as Brit heavyweight boxer (american humour) and there will be a 4 hour wait .

So Im back in the gas station buying a few cold cans to pass the time of day and a couple of the Aussies are thinking the same , as we are heading out the Irish are coming in . So we are standing in the car park and a German appears with his banjo and starts the sing song . Cutting a long story sideways the 4 hours ,it was actually 5 passed in no time a few more trips to the shop and it was a very merry journey back . The American bus driver thanked us for our understanding and entertainment  and  one of the Irish guys said he had had such a good time a breakdown should be included in every trip .

Oh, and the couple from Sunderland stayed on the bus .

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

Tui passenger opens up on 'nightmare' flight ordeal after emergency on board grounded plane

A Tui passenger has revealed details of a "nightmare" flight which was forced to make an emergency landing before the aircraft was damaged by a cherry picker.

Passengers on flight TOM193 from Cancun, Mexico, to Manchester were delayed by around two days.

Last Monday, the flight was delayed by four hours due to a medical emergency on the incoming service.

However, another medical incident on board the aircraft saw the plane making an emergency landing just an hour into journey.

The plane landed in Charleston, South Carolina, where the fire service removed the sick traveller.

However, a cherry picker used to rescue the passenger then damaged the aircraft door - so the flight was unable to continue.

Sandra Evans from Newtown, Wales, said that she still doesn't feel well following the ordeal.

The 58-year-old explained that holidaymakers were required to apply for visas on their mobile phones as they were in the US coming in from Mexico.

She also claimed they were left in "stifling conditions" with just "juice and a pain au chocolat".

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"We got to the airport at two, our flight was supposed to be at 6pm, but it was 10pm before we boarded the plane. We had been on the plane for about an hour and then we could see the young man who had gotten poorly," she told the Manchester Evening News.

"There were two people in between us. We could see something happening.

"We were told there was going to be an emergency landing and everybody had to put their trays down. There were many next to him trying to help. We made the emergency landing."

She added that everyone onboard was attempting to access the internet which kept "crashing" and resulted in her "running out" of £15 worth of data to apply for an ESTA (visa waiver).

Evans and her friend were taken to three hotels before finally finding a room which they were required to pay for.

"I broke down at that point as other people were told they had vouchers. We were so tired. We hadn't eaten since 10am the previous day and we were shattered. As we were leaving we ran into the young man who was ill," she said.

The flight finally left Charleston at 5.35pm local time on Wednesday and landed at 5.15am on Thursday in Manchester.

Evans said: "TUI bent over backwards for the young man. And staff in the hotel were fantastic, they couldn't do enough for us once they learnt our situation. The holiday, you couldn't fault it, it was magical. I'm still waiting for a reply from them."

A TUI spokesperson said: "We would like to apologise to customers impacted by the medical diversion between Cancun and Manchester on flight TOM193. Unfortunately during the disembarkation of the unwell passenger, the aircraft was damaged, so our customers and crew remained in Charleston until it was safe for everyone to return.

"We do understand how frustrating it must be for customers when a delay of this nature takes place, but we supported our customers throughout the delay. Customers have been informed of how to claim for expenses occurred during the delay and are eligible also to claim EU261 compensation."
