Samsung HQ have admitted it was indeed an error on their part, an inadvertent passing out beyond their containment area of a message that should never have been sent.

I woke up to my phone telling me someone had activated "Find my Mobile" during the night. As I was asleep at the time, it was not me. Samsung have said a test went wrong.

I think it was not a test. They geo-located all their phones and that information will be useful to them for what purpose?

Well, any purpose, but it all looks like a breach of privacy (as if we had any) which is probably an illusion.
