Are you joking ? Balls was 'grilling' his Mrs ,the woman who he had been having marmalade on toast just a couple of hours earlier. over 1600 people complained to OFCOM over that interview . Were ITV put on notice for that blatant political chicanery ?  No .
Did you watch it?  I did so know he wasn't the only interviewer and he did ask tough questions.

And most people know Balls hasn't been an active politician for over 9 years.

But Balls is not an MP. The problem with GB News is that MPs have their own shows, and no-one at GBNews challenges the bullshine they come out with.

I suggest you watch some of those GMTV interviews and you'd realise they are no tame set up

That chancer David Lammy tried to get one over OfCom but was forced to leave LBC in April: https://pressgazette.co.uk/the-wire/media-jobs-uk-news/lbc-david-lammy-lewis-goodall/

The Lab types always try and break the rules but it always backfires

And who says what is allowed ?  Its OK for Labour to be given free reign on the BBC or to be asked questions they have agreed with by ED Balls on GMTV . . .

The PM and his sidekicks are on every day . . .
Jast like Sunak before and Truss and Boris and May, Cameron, Brown, Blair, Major, Thatcher, Callaghan, Wilson, Heath etc.  They're not called prime minsters and head of government for nothing you know.  And if you look you'll see that prominent opposition leads get mentioned every day too.

. . OFCOM have no rules with regard serving MP's or other politicians presenting programmes* so no ITV didn't have to drop Ms Smith . The only rule is that they dont present news programmes where they speak directly to the audience . Current affairs , debates ect are  alright ,even encouraged by OFCOM who state the freedom of expression is really important and broadcasters are free to make their own editorial choices ' and that ' viewers have the right to hear a range of information and ideas'

*Rules are tightened during election campaigns

So its not OFCOM that has concerns its the Labour party that  don't like dissenting voices . Quite simply they are running scared and will attempt to shut down debate wherever they can
Not how Jacqui Smith told it or how Conservative Iain Dale told it.

To put it in perspective GB news don't even come close to getting the complaints that other channels do ,
Really? Have you evidence for that please. According to the Ofcom website GBnews has had over 9000 complaints in a short period of time.

But not with their own show. (Ofcom are getting numerous complaints about GBNews from members of the public.)
Are they ?   Hope they are telling said members of the public what it says in their own regulations then . To put it in perspective GB news don't even come close to getting the complaints that other channels do ,maybe its the class of viewer ;) .Indeed the one time GB news did break the guidelines  was in a show with the then PM Sunak when he held his 'peoples forum' where  he answered questions directly from the audience. On that occasion 500 people complained which led to an OFCOM investigation .

So seeing as their has been no such investigation or GB news being 'put on notice' over the Farage /Anderson programmes Id like to know how many is numerous enough for them to do so

But they're not.

OfCom monitor these things and have expressed concern over GBNews of prominent politicians presenting programmes.  ITV, Sky and the BBC won't have anything to do with the dodgy practice.  ITV had to drop Jacqui Smith from her excellent weekly slot with Iain Dale when she became an active politician again with that seat in the Lords - and rightly so.

So thats alright but its not OK to have a debate on another channel because they are asking different questions and coming up with answers the government doesn't like ?
Its censorship , not anything I would expect anyone on here to agree with .
Ed Balls is no longer an MP, Farage and 30P Lee are MPs.

As for what it allowed:-

Party political broadcasts | Electoral Commission

It is party political broadcasting above and beyond what is allowed.
