We in scotland seem to have a different view historically of the monarchy. In England , you appear to have a god like worship of royalty ,

I am a reluctant monarchist because the alternative in Britain would be far, far, worse.

I disagree Thomas as you might expect. Every other face on TV or wherever is suspected of ulterior motives, from career enhancement to downright political ideological intentions. Corbyn has tried to persuade us that his policies are proved right, simply because circumstances never before seen has forced government spending like every other country in the world. He no doubt anticipates a communist world in a year's time. The Queen on the other hand is trusted in a way that not many others are. She has earned her stripes and deserves to be heard and respected. Perhaps you would be happier with Sturgeon as president. Heaven help us!

To be fair toots , regarding your comment on corbyn , none of your political parties in England have convinced me of anything.

As for the queen , i think we all know what scotland thinks of the monarchy in your country. Outside of the "orange headcases" , the vast majority couldnt care less.

I am  , and always have been a scottish republican. I would be happy though to toss those morals right out the windae , and bend the knee for a time ,  to get independence.

...then ditch the monarchy. :)

I wont be watching , and neither will i suspect most of my family friends and loved ones.

We in scotland seem to have a different view historically of the monarchy. In England , you appear to have a god like worship of royalty , whereas here in scotland , we saw them merely as first among equals , and very often deposed them under our old laws or murdered them when we saw fit.

I suspect its really only the elderly now the monarchy appeals to , even in your country.? Perhaps not.

I cant think of anything more nauseating than some auld rich pampered lady , who holds her position by birth only rather than any sort of merit , lecturing or advising me and mine on the covid 19 pandemic from her palace in london.

Perhaps they could put her and phil the greek to much better use by getting them on the doors to buckingham palace and selling tickets to the tourists when this is all over to help pay for the economic damage.

Saw a clip of him on the telly this morning toots , and have to say even i thought he looked "rougher" than normal.

Never mind , im sure he , along with the rest of us , will find personal well being and be fully uplifted once the saxe coburg gotha`s address "the nation". tomorrow.

They would probably get more of an audience if phil the greek came on the telly and cracked some of his ethnic minority jokes.

So BJ is on day 8. Day 8 was classed as the day that if you weren't better you ended up in hospital on oxygen. At the same time it was said that you began to feel better before suddenly succumbing. He looks rough, still has a temperature and has lost weight. Let's hope for the best.

PS Is BJ reading our Forum and my posts in particular? Heaven forbid! However it seems he has now requested all opposition party leaders (who will it be for Labour?) to No 10 to call for unity.

What approval ratings?

QuoteFor the first time in nearly a decade, Britain approves of its government
[/b]

QuoteNot since the early days of the Coalition has the government achieved a net positive approval rating

As Prime Minister, Boris Johnson had managed to make those numbers more favourable again. Following the 2019 general election the Conservative government had the approval of one in three Britons (34%), compared to 46% who disapproved.

More dramatically still, the latest YouGov data shows, that as a result of the coronavirus crisis, the government now has net positive approval ratings for the first time in almost a decade.

The results show that 52% of Britons approve of the government's record, compared to just half that number (26%) who disapprove.

Frankly there appears to be a lot of thieving "in transit" going on since this crisis started and is isn't just medical related equipment.

Plenty of scam and thieving reports and warnings:

I made the suggestion elsewhere that as the military have performed well in constructing a mega hospital in nine days, it could/should also be handed responsibility for delivering supplies that are apparently available, but not reaching the front line...

That is just the nurses, paramedics and other medical professionals I know, who have seen no sign of PPE at all.

I note several countries are now, due to whole shipments of PPE not arriving where it was sent, using armed escorts to make sure it gets to where it should be going.
