I looked at joining, more for curiosity than expectation of fulfilling content. However the sign-up process requires a phone number, which is a hard no from me.

I admit it is more difficult now because they don't really like taking cash any more, but I generally got round this sort of bollox by buying an ASDA mobile SIM card every so often.

They cost 50p and work out of the packet with no need for any credit for receiving calls and texts. They are good for between 90 and 120 days after first initialisation before ASDA's mobile carrier decides you aren't going to put any money on it you bloody skinflint and deactivates them. I find such things an EXCELLENT way to acquire gmail, hotmail and similar that DEMAND a phone number and it sure as hell fucks over spalmmers who want a mobile number to contact you. Of course, DONT EVER lose the password details of whatever you set up as you'll never be able to recover the account....

And before you go there, GCHQ have a little list of the IMEI numbers of phones that lie dormant for ages and suddenly reactivate withy new "phone" numbers. So THEY know "aw F@@@ it's that bastard john of gwent buying a new fucking asda card to piss off spammers, stand down the chopper the bomb squad and SO19 false alarm" every time i put a new sim card in my twenty year old nokia nk701...

bought for 50p cash in the store is good for 90 days after you put it into a first generation non smartphone bought for next to nothing or left idle for years. And all they want to do is send you a text message.

Surely, that would be bear baiting ...

I joined it yesterday using my distaff side's nom de plume.

Within seconds the trump lobby wanted to sign me up as a registered supporter......

Try posting this on the site and see what happens:-

This site only has 5 censored words, the C word and 4 derivatives of f**k. Hardly George Orwell is it.

6 actually Nick. As has been said before, this is not the sort of board  that likes to call a spade a melanin enhanced ethnic. And come to think on it, the Holy Joes running the board can get a bit tetchy at times. Still, all boards are like that and I dare say that this is no worse than most.

I haven't joined "Parler" because it is getting some rough reviews.

If they have let that evil woman Katie Hopkins join it, I am not surprised.

Also, I don't want to be grouped in a platform which seems to be for those right of the centre to have a debate.

Parler came up in another conversation I was having, and ended up looked at te terms of service -

Amusingly I think these are more strict than twitters, though whether or not they are enforced is another matter.

I swear like a trooper. But I very rarely use expletives when writing. There's no need.

I signed up to Parler, but just don't like it's UI. Maybe at my age, getting used to one thing and then moving on to another is a bit annoying. As for Twitter and its censorial nature, it does seem to be somewhat whimsical and inconsistent. I don't read Ms Hopkins's posts, but I've seen some pretty bad stuff that stays up forever and a day. Mostly aimed at Jewish people. But maybe that's my imagination.

I assume you mean they have a lower audience, if not, how do they have less?

Twitter allows for swearing (without censorsh*p!), blasphemy (heaven forbid!), and (hardcore!) pornography videos etc to be posted.

Not that there's anything wrong with those not being allowed on this forum, however, it is worth mentioning given a comparison was made.
