Well that's  fair enough .If they are banned in areas where they need to be whats with banning them everywhere all about ?  If you ban them plod will need to enforce it so you may as well keep it to certain places which gives them and the wardens  half a chance .

Did you read all of this:-

I don't think they should be banned but I do think they should be banned from being used where you like .

There are several Sites of Special Scientific Interest near where I live where ALL fires and overnight camping are banned. (There are big signs stating that.)

Both have never been a problem until the last few weeks. There are now police/fire brigade/ wardens doing 24/7 patrols.

Feck me I agree with papa !

Sort of  :-\

I don't think they should be banned but I do think they should be banned from being used where you like . Local fire pits where you do your cooking could be a compromise .Keeps everything tidy and the danger of wild  fires is minimised .

This is our local rag.. https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/18550153.disposable-barbecues-now-illegal-use-new-forest/

But it doesn't stop clowns from starting a camp fire. Around here it then tends to get into the ground, and flare up the next day or day after. Happens every year without fail.

Idiots will cause problems with anything, take away the BBQ's and they'll just find something else to cook on.

It is the disposable barbecues causing problems not barbecues per se.
At events I normally go to on a regular basis disposable barbecues are banned anyway, due to the fire hazard and scorching the ground.
What has happened in the last few weeks is the number of antisocial morons in the population appears to have increased by 1000%.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Dunno. The trouble is you never know where that sort of thing will stop. When we go to the coast and the sun goes down, I like to see all the campers cook fires and barbecues light up on the beaches and on the cliffs. It adds a cheery note to the summer.

The trouble is far too many idiots are causing problems with them.

I have reluctantly signed  petitions to ban disposable barbecues, they have been causing problems all over Britain recently. (A significant number of shops in rural/coastal areas have stopped selling them because of the problems caused.)
