We have to look for a bright side ,but it doesn't reside in that awful figure.

My bright side will be if one of the high profile Covid-19 deniers carks it.

148 deaths recorded and the early figure  of  38 given out was ,and has been throughout , the pandemic misleading.
Why does this reflect anything negative on the BBC.? It's nothing more than one  more example of  confusing use of any stats available.  The only laugh this gives me is a very nervous one.

Quite, my wife went out for her daily exercise walk yesterday and came back early. It was far too crowded for safety.

You need to get out more Pappy. This Chinese flu may be a bit of a fashion statement in your part of the world, but lurking indoors can cause Vitamin D deficiency which makes you glum and fat.

That is a a very crass comment, I am on lock down it is looking like for a very long time. Especially now hordes of potentially plague carrying tourists have turned up. If I get Covid-19 I have a 90% chance of death. (That is medical opinion from an intensive care specialist, based on my age and medical conditions.
Frankly idiots on internet forums still calling it the Chinese Flu should shut up, it is not funny.

However that figure compared to the same day last week, is a big increase from the 67 reported last week, which may or may not indicate a spike.

Counting the weekly deaths smoothes the numbers, so the ONS figures may help. The BBC has ceased to function as a reliable news channel. Many people are voting with their feet and not paying a licence fee.

The seven day average has been falling for the last fourteen weeks, which suggests that we are approaching burnout. That said I would not be surprised if a few extra oldies did not decide to die just to screw up my figures.

Auntie seems to have given on chasing up the licence fee. At least once a fortnight for the last ten years we have gotten a demand at the rural slum  for payment of the TV licence. And every letter is accompanied by threats of blood and snot if we don't pay up. Nothing ever happens.
