It's possible given the china connection.

Though my understanding is that antibodies fade fairly quickly (as in we are already seeing them fade in people who caught CV in April) and and she had a test in June which would indicate (but not prove) she might actually have had CV later.

There was a dry cough going around in December (a friend coughed so hard he passed out and broke his jaw), thought again the loss of smell is suggestive.

I saw some modeling of spread using the dispersion (the wide variation in how many people individuals infect).

When a disease is very dispersed (as CV is) you often get little bursts which naturally fizzle out early on until one outbreak "catches" and then the epidemic takes off

It's possible that the UK experienced a number of "unsuccessful" outbreaks in December before a critical mass was achieved in January.
