A true gent and a funny guy as well . Met him a couple of times at golf do's where he always had time for a few words and once at Hindhead golf club where he was a member

I will miss the dry humour and the one liners during the commentaries some of which were a bit near the mark for the offended police but all the same  he made watching golf on the telly watchable when the action was pretty boring .

Never in to golf but watched it occasionally and he was good.
