A politician who says one thing and means another is hardly an endangered species.
Indeed, But Starmer may well be one of the more duplicitous ones, someone who will say and do whatever he thinks will work best for him at any given moment, truth and principle be damned. A bit too much like Blair in that respect for me. In this whole pandemic crisis for example he has been reluctant to show leadership before being certain where the public stood. And has been quite obviously running scared of negative headlines in the Tory press. And this has resulted in a lack of true leadership.

SAGE, for example, has been advocating school closures since before Christmas, in line with teachers and their unions.Yet in spite of saying he followed the science, Starmer refused to back this until it became obvious the government was going to. Afraid of union-bashing headlines in the Tory press, methinks.

This is not a man of conviction, principle, or substance. This is a man of spin, willing to say or do whatever he thinks will be popular at any given moment. I fear he will offer as an alternative little more than government by focus group and opinion poll, in bed again with the likes of Murdoch.
We are not all in the same boat. We are in the same storm. Some of us have yachts. Some of us have canoes. Some of us are drowning.

Now before anyone says anything, I don't agree with the final part -

"So what can we do?
Stay members. Our political system blasts splinter parties into obscurity. Unity is key and as long as there are socialist MPs in the Labour Party and the Unions are affiliated we need socialists in the Labour Party to vote in internal elections and, crucially, leadership contests.
Vote for the united left slate in the upcoming NEC elections. View the slate HERE." ....etc

That's bollocks.

But the report itself contains a lot of facts from what I'm seeing; clearly Starmer is a total double-talker who says one thing but means the other and that's not really acceptable in modern politics in my opinion, was always going to hate him anyway, but now it feels like there's more justification for it rather than just pure ideological spiting of him.

Ah well....
Well funny you should ask that, we told Labour party activists exactly what would happen after the last election. But as usual they were busy calling us c^^nts, maybe, but who was right and who was wrong. I reckon we were bang on. Labour party internal politics will always be a mess anyway. Not that I even fancy being involved in any of it.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!
