Makes you wonder why the French didn't rescue them before they got to the half way line.

I've always supported the RNLI - it's a family tradition.

I give sod all to anybody except the Roma beggars outside Sainsbury's and the RNLI.

A couple of weeks back I got an email of a kiddie being handed ashore from a RNLI lifeboat. Probably posed and taken on Hyde Park boating lake, but I fell for it and sent a few bob.  :) :)

Farage strikes me as being a Michael McIntyre of politics — he's popular enough to make a lot of money without having a lot of talent and, in this case, his "gift" seems to have been to get members of the public to give him the finger by dipping the other hand into their pockets to give to the RNLI...
On climate change — we're talking, we're beginning to act, but we're still not doing enough...

Sheepy

Politicising the RNLI is very naughty I have ignored it on purpose, we all know full well they are about saving lives at sea, letting people smugglers and the French government drag them in and politicise them via the Neo Liberals is a very nasty and a desperate attempt to legitimise illegal immigration.
Just because I don't say anything, it doesn't mean I haven't noticed!

I think Farage made the 'taxi service' comment because of the very fact that they had not crossed the half way line but that RNLI were going into French waters  to pick up people in small boats .

The French dont 'rescue' them because they dont want them and actively escort them across until our (Various agencies) people pick them up .

RNLI donations rocket by 2,500% after Nigel Farage criticises its Channel rescues

Donations to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution have rocketed by more than 2,500% after Nigel Farage and other campaigners attacked the service for rescuing migrants crossing the English Channel.

It came after the charity's chief executive described its role in rescuing people crossing the Channel as "humanitarian work".

Figures show online donations to the RNLI passed the £200,000 mark in the last 24 hours, up from around £7,000 on a typical day - an increase of around 2,757%.
There was also a near four-fold increase in people viewing volunteering opportunities on the sea charity's website during the same period.

Jayne George, RNLI fundraising director, said: "We are overwhelmed with the huge level of support we have received from our amazing supporters in the last couple of days.

Well actually smurfy I totally agree, the RNLI is a life saving agency not a law and immigration outfit. Its down to what Sheeps calls the Westminster party to sort this, they could if they wished and it does need sorting before a govt with a quite different agenda emerges.
