Well instead of sending you emails all day and spouting complete bollox, tell the lazy fecks to get back to work and stop hiding under their beds then our crew who are preparing lorry drivers for their test wouldn't be waiting for licenses or two months plus to take their theory test. While we put up with you telling us how hard you have it.

i just cant understand why an old union official like pappy isnt standing up supporting lorry drivers in theiir fight for decent pay , and is instead acting like a typical spolit middle class metroplitan elite pining because he cant get his cheap spanish au pair for the despicable pennies he was once paying.

Borkie is right about pappy , he has sold out his former workmates and become a thatcherite!!!

Those "lazy fecks" are gainfully employed in various industries and businesses trying to deal with the dire consequences of Brexit.
#

No you have that the wrong way around. Brexit was the working class taking back some measure of control and trying to deal with 13 years of tony blair and new labours increased destruction of their working rights wages and living conditions , where they were told by the bosses and politicians to suck it up or an eastern european would replce you if you complained.

You support the erosion of working rights , and slave labour of uk farms , what sort of socialist are you pappy?

I fink you are some sort of tory boss class fifth columinst out to wind us up arent you pappy?

The Truck Driver Shortage – The Dirty Truth No One Talks About

What is the Truck Driver Shortage?

There appears to be a shortage of qualified professional truck drivers because drivers are leaving the industry and searching for jobs that offer better pay, benefits and working conditions.

They're simply not happy or satisfied with the lifestyle driving a truck for a living provides. And who can fault them for this?

A government spokesperson said on Friday: "The British people repeatedly voted to end free movement and take back control of our immigration system and employers should invest in our domestic workforce instead of relying on labour from abroad.

RHA chief admits truckers have been underpaid for a long time

I think for a long time, lorry drivers have been underpaid. And it's part of the reason why we've got this challenge, this problem. So increasing payments for retailers and manufacturers and higher rates in order for us to be able to pay drivers decent living wage, but I think part of the problem at the moment is the sign-on bonuses are actually moving, drivers around the market, moving drivers away from hauliers who are delivering into supermarkets and the supermarkets are attracting those drivers away. And that's exacerbating the problem. And that could have a further impact in terms of our ability to get product from the manufacturers into the food retailers as well.

I am not lying, I get emailed on a wide range of issues when they have appeared in trade organisations, specialist websites, and media and press.
I only post a small number of them on this forum because of the rabid Brexiteers on the forum suffering from cognitive dissonance.

Why are you on the side of big business , and politicians whom you say you hate  , to attack lorry drivers and other low paid working class men over brexit?

The only person suffering from cognitive dissonance( yawn change the record) is you in your desperation to jump aboard any bandwagon to throw shit at the tories.

in this case though , the tories are on the side of the low paid working class ,which tony blair and his championing of mass immigration through freedom of movement over decades , relentlessly attacked wages and conditions of the very people he  , and you claim to be on the same side as.

You are on old fraud pappy.

These people simply want a decent days wage for a decent days work , and you are attacking them for it and blaming "brexit". EU membership and fom caused their conditions to be run down , as old labour famoulsy claimed in the seventies and eighties ( regarding the orighinal european project) before it became politically expedient to jump aboard the eu bandwagon.

It's the like of Tesco's screwing every supplier to the ground that is causing the driver shortage. The hauliers can't afford to increase the rates because the growers can't afford to pay them more because of Tesco.

Who wants to do nights away from their family, sitting in a cab alone nurturing a heart condition when they can be home every night after a decent shift for a few shekels less?
That is the problem, nothing to do with Brexit.

Nick the lorry driver situation is chickens coming home to roost. Nothing to do with brexit or covid.

They have been screwing the wages of lorry drivers and many others down for two decades or thereabouts. When lorry drivers complained of the crap pay , up till now they were told if you dont like it , leave , and we will have an eastern european in that chair tomorrow thankfull for the wages we are  paying.

As you say , the big supermarkets and many other things are all part of the equation , but brexit is just a convenient scapegoat for deeprooted problems nothing to do with euroscepticism.

I dont know why pappy is complaining. Brexit is helping working class lorry drivers among others get a much needed pay rise , yet still he isnt happy. What an old tory snob that guy really is , siding with the boss class against the working class.

You couldnt make it up! Well you could , its all part of the never ending contortions pappy does in his bid to throw muck at the conservatives .

Any normal person can gauge a situation, just like Barry did.

The question is... For someone who is allegedly following doctors orders and not going out, why do you think the shelves are empty?

Personal experience does not reflect the generality.
I think the shelves are empty due to my wife's experience doing the shopping, neighbours complaining about it and the widespread reporting of shortages and the supermarkets themselves apologising for it or hiding the shortages.
