A while back my wife asked me to get her a book so I downloaded it from Z Library. And that should have been that. Normally I just transfer the book to Madam's tablet, but in this case and God knows why, I glanced at the cover and noticed that the author was a friend of mine. So I went to see her and said look here, I appear to owe you a royalty.

And she said forget it. I only receive pennies anyway. But what you can do is go to Amazon and give me a glowing review. So I said fair enough and if you come across anything on the lines of this book is a searing, yet compassionate indictment of the human condition, well, I probably wrote it.

So there you are. Everyone was happy. But I could not help but wonder how reliable these reviews are. Her husband has written one. Her mum, dad and immediate family have written reviews and so have all her friends. But I am not so sure that anyone of them have actually read the book. Certainly I haven't.

Still, my wife was pleased and that is the main thing  :)
