650 X 500 = 325,000

The Chartists wanted elections to Parliament every year

Having calculated the above, so do I.

Given the lib dem membership numbers, they'll have to take out payday loans to field candidates...
You say that john , but apparently 45 % of the uk want to rejoin the eu , so if labour under starmer keep trying the failed policy of sitting on the eu fence and facing both ways , while obviously the snp hopefully will take the scot vote , then the liberals could potentially win seats in england and wales from the rejoin vote.

They could hurt labour in quite a few seats , and the tories in the southern english middle class remain shires.

Trouble is with the LDs is that they win a by-election and they think they can rule the country. When the real election comes round they limp home with a few MPs and more lost deposits then skulk around for another 5 years until the delusions of grandeur come back.
Rejoining the EU - as a policy, will do them no favours  to reverse this trend.

<t>In matters of taxation, Lord Clyde\'s summing up in the 1929 case Inland Revenue v Ayrshire Pullman Services is worth a glance.</t>

you are probably right barry. Of course , we know how starry eyed and gullible the lib dems are , but as i said at least they are being honest unlike starmers lot. They could win quite a few votes by promising re join , who knows?

I did say to boycey on here when he was getting carried away with the lib dem by election victory in north shropshire it was only a by election but he wouldnt listen.

As you say  the proof will be in a general election.

We have always known where the lib dems stand on Europe so no change there . Its not a new policy or anything that they would take us back  to EU policy making and European law  .

The Ukraine war hasnt invalidated Brexit at all , talk about a last ditch clutch at the few straws Johnson has left dangeling

Remainer says in this article how shit the uk is and how it wont be able to do anything meaningfull without rejoining the eu. :D

The Ukraine war has invalidated Brexit

We can't do sanctions, defence or energy without Europe.

Brexit, in its original form, is dead: killed by the new geopolitical realities created by the war in Ukraine. I doubt that the UK will rejoin the EU anytime soon, but its whole attitude to Europe will have to change – on defence, on energy and even on trade itself.
To understand why, consider the delusional text written by Boris Johnson introducing the Integrated Review, a comprehensive foreign and security strategy issued by Downing Street last March. Brexit, he said, had set Britain free: "free to tread our own path, blessed with a global network of friends and partners, and with the opportunity to forge new and deeper relationships." The UK would be the buccaneering free agent, ducking and diving across Asia, the Americas and the Pacific, promoting free trade in place of the established trading blocks, and moving its armed forces into the "Indo-Pacific".
Where is that freedom now? It has vanished, for four reasons.

The story is behind a paywall , but i think you get the gist of it from the few lines shown.

I admire the honesty of the lib dems , if not their political stupidity , where as we know with labour , they deny they want to rejoin while as we know  will make a calculated and devious attempt to sign us back into the Eu behind a catalogue of lies if they ever get back into government.

Lib Dems set out roadmap for rejoining EU single market and want to 'end petty Brexit squabbles'

Policy would ultimately reinstate free movement and trade

The Liberal Democrats are to set out a roadmap for Britain to rejoin the European Union's single market – reversing the most damaging parts of Brexit.

The party's spring conference is on Saturday expected to back a policy calling for the UK's economic re-integration with the EU once "the ties of trust and friendship are renewed"
