In Kent anyway. In June the local unemployed and unemployables would turn too and start picking the early spuds and fruit and carry on until November, with a few working on the roots and brassicas through the winter.

There would be endless tales in the press about farm workers claiming the dole while being paid cash in hand, but no one gave a toss because that sort of thing had been going on passage of the Elizabethan poor laws. But recently everyone has gotten very po faced about benefit fraud, which hasn't decreased but has resulted in a shortage of farm workers.

I think the scousers and mancs should be put to good use for the benefit of the british empire , and set  to working the fields myself borkie. Do you remember the scouser who posted on this forum called stevlin?

If ever there is an expert on the benefit system , its a scouser. What we need to encourage them back into the fields is a scouse gang master who can educate them on what benefits they are due ,while the mancs do all the work . Scouse brain , and manc brawn , and the beauty of it is , only mancs understand the gutteral whiny noises scousers make.

Two tory councillors from aberdeen( or was it labour?) and buckinghamshire have claimed in seperate stories that unemployed mancs and geordies should be made to work picking fruit and veg in the fields of angus and the south east.

It would help both england and scotland during the employment crises , with 1.7 million job vacancies , and relieve the pessure of the beaches of dover from daily dinghy rides and gangmasters making a fortune out of the misery of illegal immigration.

What does everyone think?

Is this a viable solution  to solve the crises in areas like crop picking , or would it be a double edged sword with thousands of morbidly obese mancs and northern english descending on the tory shires of england and scotland , raping looting and pillaging in between picking crops while moaning about having nothing to eat but dripping and dry bread for mi tea!
