Scotlands leaders have a history going back centuries of doing deals with the English and will take the crumbs of a devolved government as a victory for their own political careers .
If they did actually at any point gain independence the politicians of Scotland would lose what gets them elected . They would face competition from emerging and reborn parties like the conservatives and labour who would take on a completly different persona without being tied  to the English versions .

In short independence will see SNP MPs out of a job and is why they will keep things exacly how they are
