The ferry operator DFDS have admitted that as a result of Brexit and the Tories, they are operating one boat short

I find it interesting that DFDS caused that. It has been a while since I last crossed the channel but DFDS ran their ferries to Dunkirk and Ostend, not Calais. At the time I used them in preference to others because for what really was a trivial amount more (and my client was paying it anyway) I got to avoid the scum at Calais, got taken further towards my destination in Belgium, and (for me the absolute killer blow) got to spend enough time on board ship to get some decent grub served on a proper plate with proper knife and fork etc etc and the time to eat it leisurely before the ranting loudspeaker told me it was time to rejoin the race to disembark....

I forgot it is Sunday and most heavy good vehicles with a few exceptions are banned from the roads in France on Sundays.
Another report about recent traffic jams live on the BBC News at the moment.

Dover queues: Traffic builds on the A20 in Kent

Published22 hours ago
A DFDS spokesperson said it was refurbishing a ship which normally operates on the Dover route.

The spokesperson said: "With traffic returning to normal levels after the Christmas and New Year holidays, there have been short delays but we are working to make sure everyone gets on the earliest crossing possible."
